The Word of God – As Bread for the Hungry
Dr RJ Sing
“But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.”
As we study the above verse of Scripture, we find that the victory in each aspect of the redemption is related to Jesus’ use of the Scripture. The Words “It is written” is quoted repeatedly. First Jesus quotes *Deuteronomy 8:3, “And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”*
The Source of bread is more important than bread itself! Later, Jesus said, *“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4). His source of strength was obedience to the Father’s Will and He would not even work a miracle to avoid personal suffering, when such suffering was a part of God’s purpose for Him. The Message Bible states Deuteronomy as follows, “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth. Let us now read Deuteronomy 8:3 in the King James Translation, “And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.” This is beautiful, make this your way of life
