My Scripture reference is as follows: Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God; for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
The New Living Translation of the Scripture above says that it is God who gives us power to become “rich.”The Lord has not promised that every believer will become wealthy. He says that He will give you “power to get wealth.”He does not say that He will give you wealth. But He has promised that all those who have entered into the new covenant with Him through Christ will have opportunity to prosper. We all have been given the ability, if we will harness it to generate finances. There is an enormous variety of ways for money to come into our hands. The way we invest our time, skill, experience, and knowledge should be guided by God so we have the possibility of gaining maximum return.
Passive Income
The term passive income is one of the most powerful concepts that can guide us into lives of prosperity. The person who is locked into the thinking of a salaried career will always have a lid on his possibilities of prospering.
We Christians have been seriously handicapped in our mind-set with regard to prospering in life. Therefore, we have not allowed ourselves to think even mildly creatively about how to generate vast sums of money. The Protestant work ethic-great and essential as it is- can also be severely restrictive. We should definitely work hard; but working hard is not all there is to making money. What we need is to work smart.
Most education for work or career is aimed at equipping people with the skills and knowledge to get a job that they can be paid to work at. There are virtually no courses that teach people how to make money in ways other than career performance.
Here are the four ascending levels of income:
1. Time and Labor: You give an employer eight working hours of each day at physical labor (standing at a cashier, digging holes, driving a truck, etc.), and get paid an agreed rate for that time.
2. Skill: You develop skills that an employer pays you to use to get a job done. You can fix a motor, so you get paid an agreed amount to do that job, regardless of how long it takes you. You can charge more for this than a person just getting a time-based income.
3. Wisdom: You learn how to arrange for motors to be fixed, the shop to be run, the fleet of cars to be organized, and you are able to consult, manage and oversee a team of employees to perform these various tasks. Your knowledge in that area is worth a higher level of money. People who don't know what you know can waste money, time and resources before they are able to fix the problem. Because you do know, the problem is solved quickly and the goals achieved easily, thus, your input is valued at a higher rate.
4. Passive Income: This is the area of greatest opportunity for the generation of unlimited income. If we can step into this area, then God is able to provide great opportunities through which abundance can flow into our lives. Passive income is where we take the money we have earned through any of the previously mentioned means-time and labor, skill or wisdom-and we buy something that generates income without us having to do anything except a bit of minor administrating. This means buying stock shares that keep increasing in value and generating income at the same time. This means buying rental properties that people pay to live in. in fact, stock and real estate represent the two most common forms of passive income.
We would serve ourselves well to become educated in an area we feel comfortable with and then work out a plan to earn passive income from that involvement. Seek out people who have been successful with passive investing and ask them questions. Read books by people who have proven track record dealing with passive income. Educate yourself!
There are many areas that can bring passive income your way: Royalties from songs or books, inventions you have acquired, stocks and bonds, and many others. Let me simplify the concept by referring to just one area: Real estate. Most people have equity in their own home that simply sits there year after year, never being used. That’s called lazy money, or “house banking.”Most banks are willing, if not eager, to loan money against that equity. If you have exercised due diligence in finding a property that has great rental return plus capital growth, then you can approach a lender with confidence about your project. Ask others who have been successful in the same area about their thoughts about the probable income and output of the project. If you can get started on a small project, then you will gain knowledge and experience at a lower risk.
Be patient, not greedy. Enduring wealth never comes quickly; nor is it necessary to take enormous risks. Don’t place your entire home at risk. Borrow a small percentage of the equity at first. The goal should always be to pay down the mortgages as soon as possible. Once the property in unencumbered, it is a genuine asset that claims no capital from us, but instead pays money to us. As time passes, equity builds in the properties we purchase so we are able to borrow more against our equity in order to purchase more. As we sleep, people are paying us rent. That is called passive income.
In our church, I teach young people about the creation of passive income. Consequently, young adults in their twenties own apartment complexes. The sooner young people understand how to generate, manage, and distribute wealth, the more blessing they can be in this world.
I wish I had attended a church like ours when I was young. I only began later in life to believe it was possible for a Christian to enjoy financial wealth. Starting late in life is better than nothing, but how much better to have been able to do this as a younger person! One of the greatest joys I know is paying a family’s medical bills for their child’s operation, paying someone’s rent when he loses his job, and buying a single mother a car. That is what Christians should be able to do. However, many are so bound up in an anti-wealth mind- set that the church has been severely constrained from being much of a blessing to the world at all.
May God continue to richly bless you and your family. We pray for you daily and take pleasure in seeing you enjoy God’s blessings that make Rich & adds No Sorrow.
We Love You very Much,Dr Roshan and Pastor Zubeda Sing
