She Framed Her Own Miracle: 7 Keys From the Woman Who Pressed In

Dr RJ Sing, 25 February 2024, 50 min

This is the whole service. The video opens where he begins, at 36:41.

Originally preached as “Framing Your Miracle”

Sermon outline

Like the woman with the issue of blood, you frame your miracle by enduring hardship, waiting for God's time, hearing the right things, making a demand on the anointing and walking in humility.

Main text

  • Mark 5:25-34

Opening

After an offering time that includes an appeal for the church's new wall, he notes that the day before, 24 February, he and Pastor Zubeda had been married 44 years, and that they made mistakes but came through. He prays for the Word to go forth unhindered, tells of a school friend who recognised Wesley in a shop, and reads Mark 5:25-26 about the woman who spent all she had on physicians and only grew worse. He announces seven keys to framing your miracle.

  1. The first step: endure many sufferings

God will not anoint the proud: He watches your stewardship, and if He can trust you with money He will trust you with an anointing. Suffering softens and humbles the heart, but you must not only suffer many things, you must survive them and fight the good fight of faith, as Paul was shown how much he must suffer. He warns that there is a counterfeit 'anti-anointing' that runs parallel to the real one, so we need discernment.

Illustration: In 1988 he and Pastor Zubeda nearly went to Australia; a grandchild pointed out that she would never have been born, and he realised the church and its television ministry would never have begun. He also recalls that before he was saved, coming from another religion, he was demonised and could lift a wardrobe by its legs, until he was saved and filled with the Spirit.

“Not only must you suffer many things, but you must survive them.”

    • Mark 5:26
    • 1 Timothy 6:12
    • Isaiah 51:1
    • 1 Thessalonians 3:3
    • Acts 9:15-16
  2. The second key: wait for your time

The woman waited twelve long years. There is an appointed time and a season, so don't pray for a week or six months and throw in the towel; your time and God's time are different. Be the manager of your 'thought factory' and refuse the devil's packages, because thoughts cause emotions and emotions cause reactions. Adjust to change, forgive in advance and remember that whatever you sow you reap.

Illustration: Snow is neutral: some people are excited to build a snowman or ski while others find it miserably cold, but their feelings don't change the snow.

“So you are the manager of your thought factory.”

    • Mark 5:25
    • Ecclesiastes 3:1
    • Galatians 6:7
    • Hebrews 12:6
  3. Hear the right things

She heard of Jesus. Every minister is limited by what he hears, so expose yourself to good preaching and come to church childlike, whatever vessel God uses. John the Baptist was an unlikely vessel, yet Jesus humbled Himself to be baptised by him. When she heard Jesus was near, she said in her heart that she would be healed: she framed her own miracle.

Illustration: He asks whether we have 'bulldog tenacity', refusing to let go whatever we hear.

“Every minister is limited by what he hears.”

    • Mark 5:27-28
    • Matthew 3:4
    • John 1:19-27
    • Matthew 3:13-15
  4. The fourth step: go to the anointed for the anointing

She came behind Jesus in the press and made a demand on His anointing. Some people carry a mantle God wants to pass on to you, and Elisha refused to leave Elijah until he received it. Every child of God carries the anointing, so lay hands on the sick and speak to your body, your finances and your sales targets.

Illustration: He acts out the scene with volunteers, playing Jesus walking past while one grabs his shirt and says she is making a demand on the anointing, then prays the same way for a woman who is unwell.

“Always make a demand. Don't leave it up to the preacher. It's yours for the taking.”

    • Mark 5:27
    • 1 Kings 19:19-21
    • 2 Kings 2:1-14
  5. Key number six: understand how the anointing is carried and transmitted

She said, 'If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.' Moses sprinkled the anointing oil on Aaron's garments, handkerchiefs and aprons from Paul's body healed the sick, and Saul recognised Samuel by his mantle and bowed. God gives the fivefold ministry the anointing for the people, so honour God's house and those He has anointed, and respect the protocol of every place.

Illustration: Visiting a neighbour to pray with him, he asked which was the man's favourite chair so that he would not sit in it, respecting the protocol of that home.

“He didn't give me the anointing for me. He gave me the anointing for you.”

    • Mark 5:28
    • Leviticus 8:30
    • Acts 19:11-12
    • 1 Samuel 28:14
    • Ephesians 4:11
  6. Be a son and a daughter

Jesus called her 'daughter', not 'woman', because a daughter trusts and is humble and childlike. Humility is the key that opens every room of the anointing, and if you are a good steward of natural things God will trust you with supernatural things. He admits he over-analyses, and encourages couples to work as a team and recognise each other's strengths.

Illustration: He always encouraged Pastor Zubeda to study and advance, and when she earned more than him it never bothered him, because they were a team.

“The key that opens the doors to all the rooms of the anointing is this one here. And please don't forget it, it's humility.”

    • Mark 5:34
    • Luke 16:10

Putting it into practice

  • Don't give up in hard times: survive them and fight the good fight of faith.
  • Wait for God's timing, and refuse the thoughts the devil sends you.
  • Put yourself where you hear good preaching, and come to church childlike.
  • Make a demand on the anointing: come forward and press in rather than leaving it to the preacher.
  • Walk in humility and honour the protocol of God's house.

Closing

He has the church declare that something good is going to happen to them, tells them they are his church family and that he will celebrate every victory with them, and hands over to Colin. Colin thanks him and, speaking for the congregation, honours 'mom and dad' on their 44th wedding anniversary, then gives notices and pronounces the blessing.

Declarations he led

  • Something good's going to happen to me this week.
  • Something good's going to happen to me.

In his words

  • “Now if he can trust you with money, he'll trust you with an anointing.”
  • “Your time and God's time is two different things.”
  • “Every minister is limited by what he hears.”
  • “Always make a demand. Don't leave it up to the preacher. It's yours for the taking.”
  • “If you're a good steward with natural things, God will trust you with supernatural things.”
