Money Is Currency and It Must Flow: Prosperity God's Way

Dr RJ Sing, 30 min

Originally recorded as “Prosperity”

Sermon outline

God's plan is for you to prosper and walk in health, and you see tangible results when you check your foundations, keep giving, and learn to work the principles of His kingdom for yourself.

Main text

  • Luke 4:18-19
  • Galatians 3:13

Opening

The recording begins mid-message: if you serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob you should be abounding in His blessings, because Christ has redeemed us from the curse. He answers the person who says 'I'm not experiencing it' with a picture: a baby does not become a man overnight, someone fed and cared for it, so start at a point.

  1. Check your foundation: start with the tithe

If you are not prospering, go back and dig the foundations of your Christian life, and the first place to look is the tithe. Do not 'try' tithing for a month, because the kingdom is not for people who try it but for people with bulldog persistence. And take advice from people who are successful at a thing, not from those who are failing at it.

Illustration: A R30,000 sound system fitted to an old car that needs super glue to hold it together: what is the use of an expensive roof on a house that is going to fall down anyhow? He also points to a man who went to Richards Bay to plant a security company and kept at it until it worked.

“The kingdom of God is not for people that try the kingdom of God.”

    • Galatians 3:13
    • Malachi 3:8-10
  2. Develop your love walk and start to give

Some people tithe and still do not succeed, because other parts of their walk are undeveloped: their love walk, faith walk, prayer walk or giving. A covetous spirit that only wants to hoard and receive will stop the blessing somewhere. Church is not here for religion but to change you, so start giving away what you do not use.

Illustration: Ceilings and wardrobes stuffed with things people never use and are keeping until they die, the man with 44 chairs who still wants chairs, and 105 suits. When he receives a blessing himself, he leaves it overnight on his dressing table and asks the Lord what to do with it; if God says give it away, he gives it away.

“When you start to give to other people and you start to sow in, guess what? You've just created room for God to bless you.”

  3. Money is currency, and currency flows

Driving in his car one day, the Lord told him that money is currency and that currency must flow, like electricity. If he would be a faithful steward and keep giving out, God would keep giving to him. That is why the church gives out every month without fail.

Illustration: The conversation in the car: 'Son, money is currency.' 'Yes, Lord, it is currency.' 'But then, son, it must flow.'

“If you just keep on making sure that currency flows from your hands into the kingdom things, guess what's going to happen? It's going to keep on flowing to you.”

  4. The kingdom of God and the anointing: get understanding

He reads Luke 4:18-19 from the Amplified and announces his subject, the relationship between the kingdom of God and the anointing. With understanding you can make the kingdom work for you, because there is no favouritism with God and the responsibility now rests on you. You are not ruled by the world's economy: where the world borrows, you can go on your knees, and you are never alone.

Illustration: What is the use of giving you a machine, or a bag of tools, that you have no clue how to use?

“It is not pastor's job to make it work for you. It is pastor's job to teach you so that you can make it work in your own life.”

    • Luke 4:18-19
    • Psalm 119:105
    • Proverbs 4:7
    • Hosea 4:6
    • Romans 2:11
    • John 17:16
    • Hebrews 13:5
    • Matthew 28:20
  5. The test is tangible results

He is after results you can see, feel and taste, not results 'in the spirit' only: saying 'I'm blessed' is religious talk if you cannot give someone fifty rand. People will faithfully follow a routine of queues and medicine for years with no change, yet will not take ten healing scriptures and speak them morning and evening for fourteen days. When he is unwell he does not look for another pastor to pray: he meditates on the healing scriptures and speaks them until the symptoms go.

Illustration: Getting up at four in the morning to take the PUTCO bus to a hospital, sitting eight hours in the queue to be given pressure tablets, carrying the medicine home like a treasure to its own shelf, and five years later doing exactly the same, with only the grey in the doctor's beard having changed.

“Tangible results, brothers and sisters, is stuff that you can see, that I can feel, that I can smell, that I can taste.”

    • Psalm 103:3
    • Psalm 107:20
    • 1 Peter 2:24
    • Matthew 8:17
  6. Don't sign for the devil's package

God did not make you to live with sickness; it comes from the devil, who will deliver discouragement, sickness, strife and despair to your door if you sign for them. God's intended plan is that you prosper and walk in health, full stop. He does not have to put you in hospital to speak to you, or send trouble to humble you: you can hear His voice, withdraw to be with Him, and humble yourself.

Illustration: If he brought a green mamba in a box to your home as a present, would you sign for it? He also answers a preacher who said the Lord makes him sick for two months every year so that he can rest in hospital with the Word. His own practice is that when God says withdraw, he tells Mark he is speaking to nobody and spends eight to ten hours with his Bible.

“God doesn't have to do something bad to get your attention.”

  7. The kingdom of God is God's way of doing things

The kingdom of God means God's way of doing something, His modus operandi or method of operation. Learn from His Word how God thinks and how He works, and you can see the manifested blessing: the flu may visit, but you know how to deal with it in a day, and you know how to encourage yourself. It would be foolish to serve God, tithe and come to church three times a week and have no results.

“The kingdom of God means God's way of doing something in the kingdom.”

Putting it into practice

  • If you are not prospering, check your foundations, beginning with the tithe, and stay with it instead of trying it for a month.
  • Give away what you are not using, and ask the Lord what to do with every blessing you receive.
  • Keep the currency flowing from your hands into kingdom things.
  • Take the healing scriptures and speak them over yourself morning and evening.
  • Refuse what the devil tries to deliver, and humble yourself before God in your private prayer time.

Closing

He asks what the church is after, and answers: results. He then leads them in a closing declaration that they are blessed and anointed in the kingdom of God, and a short prayer thanking the Father for the words they have heard and asking that they be hidden in their hearts to bring forth a harvest.

Declarations he led

  • I'm blessed.
  • Lord, help me give. Lord, help me sow.
  • I've been helped.
  • This is my Bible. God's Word.
  • Tangible results.
  • I'm blessed. I'm anointed in the kingdom of God. No weapon formed against me, formed against my family shall prosper. I am the head and not the tail.
  • Thank you, Father, for the words that I've heard. Let me hide it in my heart that it will bring forth a harvest. In Jesus' name.

In his words

  • “The kingdom of God is not for people that try the kingdom of God.”
  • “When you start to give to other people and you start to sow in, guess what? You've just created room for God to bless you.”
  • “It is not pastor's job to make it work for you. It is pastor's job to teach you so that you can make it work in your own life.”
  • “If I can say I'm blessed, I must be able to give you 50 bucks.”
  • “God doesn't have to do something bad to get your attention.”
