Hearing by the Word of God
Dr RJ Sing
“So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Now we know by the writing of the apostle Paul that faith comes by hearing and hearing by God’s Word. We hear the Word of God, by reading it to ourselves and through good teaching. Now many Christians say to themselves that the Bible has so many books and that they don’t know where to begin reading or studying. So, let’s assume you have a particular need in your life.
The first step is to find the verses of scripture in the Word of God that answers that need. Once you have found them, it would be a good idea to highlight them in your Bible and read it again and again. As you quote these verses of scripture, faith comes to you. The written Word of God now becomes God’s Rhema Word to you. It has now been revealed and spoken to your spirit by the Holy Spirit. The moment you receive that revelation, faith leaps into your Spirit. The act of declaring the Rhema of God is also called the Confession of God’s Word.
To confess God’s Word means to speak the same thing and to be in accord with Him. It further means to agree with. Praise God! This is what happened to each of us when we received a Rhema revelation of the gospel. We believed and confessed that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died in our place and that He rose from the dead. You received eternal life by confession and believing in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. Every other blessing of God is received the same way.
