God Is Great!
Dr RJ Sing
“Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding”.”
Job had dozens of questions that He wanted to ask God. Why did God allow him to suffer? Why was he born at all, if only misery awaited him in the world? Job did not want to listen to the explanations of his three friends – he wanted answers from God. Eventually, God had enough of all Job’s questions. “I will question you, and you shall answer me,” says the Lord to the rebellious Job.
And then He presents Job with mind-boggling questions: “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?... Who shut up the sea behind doors...? Have you ever given orders to the morning or shown the dawn its place?” (Job 38:4,8,12). When the Lord had finished speaking, Job was at a loss for words. Never before had he thought of God as the omnipotent Creator who made everything and who holds the world in His hands. When the “why” questions in your life sometimes cause you to become discontent, think about how great and wonderful God really is.
Try to answer the questions that God put to Job. God is so great and mighty that He does not owe you any explanations. Rather become quiet and allow Him to teach you, instead of trying to understand Him.
