Only One God
Dr RJ Sing
“For he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. 27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.”
Many times in the Old Testament, God clearly says that He alone is God and that His people are not to worship other gods. “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.” Deut 32:39.
When the heathen nations came to know about the God of Israel, they quickly realized that He was not like the idols they worshipped. After God rescued Daniel from the lion’s den, King Darius gave a beautiful description of this God who delivers His children. “For he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.” (Dan 6:26) King Darius then decreed that in every part of his Kingdom, people must fear and revere the God of Daniel.
Our God is a jealous God. If you belong to Him, He will not tolerate idols in your life. He wants His children to remain committed to Him and that He be the top priority in their lives. Is this true in your life?
