Confidence in Him!
Dr RJ Sing
“Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
Eli had a hard time disciplining his sons because he was more concerned about their opinion of him than God’s opinion of him. God said to him, ‘Those who honor me I will honor’ (1 Samuel 2:30)
Christian’s should value God’s Word and His opinion far more than the opinion of man. Jesus rebuked the Jews because the made ‘No effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God’. Instead, they were more concerned about accepting ‘praise from one another’ (John 5:44). Someone said, ‘Never be concerned about what others think about you because they don’t think of you’, they really think about themselves, and their opinion will not count when you stand before Almighty God.
The day will come when all men will be silent, and you alone will give an account for your choices and convictions. Where will your fans or critics be then? If you place God’s opinion above all else, it may cost you a friend. However, at the final judgement, all eternity will record your integrity before Him. Stand firm in the truth and honor God above anyone else…even family.
