Study to Show Yourself Approved
Dr RJ Sing
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”
Timothy learned to study the Scriptures in his childhood. Have you discovered a way to study the Bible so that it truly enriches you spiritually? The following method might help you to discover your Bible anew and make your quiet times delightful. This method is based on three things: The Bible reveals God to us, it discloses who man is, and it asks us certain questions. Apply this method to the Scripture passage that you are currently studying.
The Word reveals God
What does the text say about God? Who is He or what does He do? What is the good news contained in this passage? What, according to this passage, does God give to us?
The Word discloses man
What human behavior is disclosed here? What kind of sinful tendencies of man are disclosed? What part of life is revealed here? What positive traits are disclosed?
