Church Attendance

Dr RJ Sing

“Blessed are those who dwell in your house…Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage”
Psalm 84:4-5

On Festive occasions the Israelites spared no money or effort to visit the temple in Jerusalem. They travelled great distances and braved dangerous roads to visit the house of the Lord regularly. Our churches are within easy reach for most of us. And yet, many Christians make no effort to attend church every Sunday. We often come up with excuses for not going to church.

The Church services provide a special opportunity for you to draw near to God. There are three things to focus on when attending a Church service. Listen to the message from the Word, worship God and experience fellowship with your fellow-believers. The gathering together of the congregation is not only about coming to God, but also fellowship with one another. Believers should care for one another by encouraging each other in love and good deeds. (See Hebrews 10:24-25) Church attendance is important for your spiritual growth. Encourage your family to attend with you. The above admonition involves far more than erratic attendance, it involves the entire worship of Christ and in an outward indication of our inner condition.
