God’s Righteousness

Dr RJ Sing

“For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's goodness into us!”
2 Corinthians 5:21

God made Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Jesus. There was an exchange that took place. Jesus was made sin so that we might become righteous. We were made righteous by the righteousness of God. In the Book of Matthew we read “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33 KJV) That righteousness is of God which is received through faith in Jesus Christ.

In the book of Isaiah we read: “We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.” (Isaiah 64.6 NLT) Yes, that was before Jesus came. This verse says that “our righteousness are like filthy rags”. Even our best conduct and behavior does not match up for what is required in heaven. Oh but praise God! Once we received Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become the righteousness of God.

God requires that we put away those “filthy rags” of our own righteousness. We must rely, accept and rest on Gods righteousness made available to us through Jesus Christ.
