Trust in the Kingdom of God – Part 1

Dr RJ Sing

“People were bringing little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them and Blessed them.”
(Mark 10:13-16 – NIV)

Whenever we give a child a gift, he or she receives it with enthusiasm and trust. Likewise, God wants us to approach His Kingdom in the same manner. As adults, many of us try to enter into the Kingdom with doubt and pride, however, in order to enter the Kingdom of God, we must come to Him with childlike trust. In choosing to make the Kingdom of God a priority in our lives, we must make a commitment to fully rely on Him. We must approach the Kingdom with the enthusiasm and trust of a child.

Jesus instructed the young rich ruler to sell his possessions and follow Him. Jesus words saddened the young man because he did not want to sell his possessions. He trusted in riches more than Jesus. He used the incident to teach His disciples, that it is hard for someone to enter into the Kingdom of God, while trusting in riches more than Him. So, those who trust in riches will fall. Proverbs 11:28 AMP “He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident in his riches shall fall, but the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like a green bough.”
