The Importance of Speaking in Tongues – Part 2
Dr RJ Sing
“So a person "speaking in tongues" helps himself grow spiritually, but one who prophesies, preaching messages from God, helps the entire church grow in holiness and happiness.”
Can you see that? That means that as you speak in other Tongues you can edify yourself, encourage and build yourself up. The subject I am now addressing is quite comprehensive. However, I am merely touching on the individual Spirit filled believer, employing the use of Tongues in your prayer life.
In other words, in your devotional life, as you worship God, speak in other Tongues. As you begin to pray and sing, engage the use of Tongues. After all, worshipping God is a form of prayer. As you practice this, you become bold in your Christian witness. Fear leaves and boldness comes upon you. (See Acts 10:46) Here we see an example of Cornelius and his household speak in other Tongues.
As you speak in other Tongues you “charge” yourself up. When you consider a motor car battery, it works very well when fully charged. However, a flat battery malfunctions and cannot even start up the car. So, when you speak in other Tongues, you become fully charged in the Spirit. Hence, you are ready to be used by God the Holy Spirit in spiritual things. Remember, your strength comes from your spirit man. This gives you power and ability to overcome every challenge in life.
