Originally preached as “The Kingdom of God”
Sermon outline
The kingdom of God is the power, the authority and the anointing of God, and it is not somewhere far off but within every born-again believer.
Main text
- Luke 4:18-21
- Luke 17:20-21
Opening
He welcomes viewers to Life in the Spirit and asks them to fetch their Bibles, notepads and pens. He reads Luke 4:18-21 from the Amplified Bible, the scripture from the previous week's programme, and recalls the four words he asked them to hang in the gallery of their hearts: the favour of God, supernatural progress, restoration and a change of status.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me
When the anointing and the free favours of God abound towards you, there must be a change of status: the poor are made rich, the weak strong, and the downtrodden are lifted up. The Spirit of the Lord coming on a person means the presence, the power, the authority and the anointing of God coming on that person.
“The poor don't need just assistance. The poor needs the gospel preached.”
- Luke 4:18-21
What is the kingdom of God? The power, the anointing and the authority of God
Jesus came preaching the gospel of the kingdom, went through towns and villages healing the sick and casting out evil spirits, and gave the twelve power and authority to do the same. Jesus carried good news, not sad or bad news, and the days of healing, miracles and prosperity are not over, because the church continues what He began. Every kingdom has a king: Jesus is the King and we are citizens of His kingdom.
“Jesus was a carrier of good news, and that is the gospel.”
- Mark 1:14-15
- Luke 8:1-2
- John 14:12
- Luke 9:1-6
- Luke 16:16
- Matthew 11:12
- Acts 8:12
A four-step formula for seed planting
There is a process to receiving from the kingdom. Number one, plant it: do what the Word says. Number two, don't uproot it with negative words or words contrary to the Word. Number three, when pressure builds up, keep quiet rather than speak something negative. Number four, water your seed with the Word, and keep speaking and believing until the results manifest.
Illustration: If a financial burden confronts you like a mountain, use the four-step formula and speak to the mountain.
“Once you plant that seed in the ground by faith, do not uproot it by your words.”
- Mark 11:23-24
The kingdom of God is within you
How can the kingdom operate in an individual believer's life? It does not come with visible display; it is within you, so the power, authority and anointing of God are in your heart. When you walk, speak and pray you manifest them, and sickness and financial burdens must bow to the name of Jesus. Nicodemus saw that God was with Jesus, and God is with us too, but you must be born again to operate in the kingdom.
“When I speak, I manifest the power, the anointing, and the authority of God.”
- Luke 17:20-21
- John 3:1-3
Putting it into practice
- Whenever you read 'the kingdom of God', think of the power, authority and anointing of God.
- Plant your seed by doing the Word, and don't uproot it with negative words.
- Keep quiet under pressure, and water your seed with the Word.
- Speak to the mountain of sickness or debt.
- If you are not born again, invite Jesus into your life.
Closing
He leads viewers who do not know Christ in a prayer to receive Him and be born again, then invites the sick to lay their hands on his hands on the screen as a point of contact and prays for healing. He calls out a man named Simon in a wheelchair, a woman named Carol with cancer, and a child named Andre with a back and muscle condition, asks viewers to email their praise reports, and reminds them until next week that they carry the kingdom of God.
Declarations he led
- I have the power of God. I have the authority of God. I have the anointing of God.
- I'm clothed with power. I'm clothed with the anointing, and I'm clothed with the authority of God.
- Dear Jesus, I invite you to come into my life. I open up the doors of my heart. I make you Lord and Savior of my life.
In his words
- “The poor don't need just assistance. The poor needs the gospel preached.”
- “The kingdom of God is the power of God, the authority of God, and the anointing of God.”
- “If you're listening to a gospel that is not good news, I want to tell you then it is not the gospel at all.”
- “Wherever you go, God goes. Wherever you visit, God visits.”
- “When I speak, I manifest the power, the anointing, and the authority of God.”
