Demons Won't Know Who You Are Until You Do: 7 Truths to Speak
Dr RJ Sing, 50 min
Originally preached as “The Word of My Testimony”
Sermon outline
You are made in God's image as another speaking spirit with dominion, and you overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by boldly speaking what God's Word says about you.
Main text
- Genesis 1:26-27
- Revelation 12:11
Opening
The recording begins mid-service. He asks the church whether they really love Jesus, saying he has come to love Him for who He is and not for what He gives, and reminds them that when you seek the kingdom first, everything you desire will run after you. He then has the church read Genesis 1:26 aloud.
You are another speaking spirit with dominion
God is a spirit and He created man as another speaking spirit, in His image and likeness, to have dominion rather than be a slave buffeted by circumstances. When you show up, sickness and demonic spirits must recognise who you are, but they won't until you know it yourself. Many Christians struggle simply because they don't know who they are, so find your identity in the Word, because you were born of incorruptible seed and are sustained by every word from God's mouth.
Illustration: At the airport someone insists you are Taiwanese or Japanese, but you answer, 'I'm South African', because you know who you are.
“They won't know who you are until you know who you are.”
- Genesis 1:26-27
- Genesis 1:2
- 1 Peter 1:23
- Matthew 4:4
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
Be hungry for the Word and honour the gift among you
He rebukes yawning, lateness and a know-it-all attitude in church: people face unsaved spouses, hard bosses, bills and contracts all week, and only the Word will change them. Jesus could do no miracles in His home town because people saw only the carpenter, so appreciate and make a demand on the anointing among you. The ministry gifts are the extension of Jesus' arms, and believing God's prophets brings prosperity.
Illustration: He enjoyed a wedding the day before but left soon after eating to get into his office and into the Word. He calls a woman forward and says Jesus didn't open her door: the ministry gifts, the extension of His arms, did.
“I can read a scripture 500 times and still get excited about it.”
- Matthew 24:24
- John 8:23
- John 1:11
- John 14:9
- Mark 6:3-5
- Luke 16:17
- Matthew 5:6
- Ephesians 4:11
- 2 Chronicles 20:20
- Proverbs 18:16
We are redeemed from three things
Three voices speak in the world: God's, the devil's and the human spirit's, and the devil respects the blood of Jesus, the name of Jesus and the Word of God. According to Galatians 3:13 we are redeemed from the curse of poverty, from sickness and from spiritual death. Keep giving, believing and speaking, and know that when you die you are going into the presence of God.
Illustration: He was struck with Bell's palsy and told recovery could take six to nine months. On the way to church he commanded it to go in Jesus' name, preached with a numb mouth, and was healed by the end of the service. A woman in the church later used his testimony and was healed within two weeks.
“Sickness has no power over your body.”
- Matthew 12:34
- Galatians 3:13
- Luke 16:22
They overcame him by the word of their testimony
We overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony, not someone else's interpretation or message. You get what you say, so speak life into dead situations and speak to the mountain; Jesus restored everything Adam lost, so walk and speak with authority and become a newsmaker rather than a victim of the news.
Illustration: His granny used to hold their noses and make them swallow castor oil, followed by an orange or sugar: it was bad but it was good, and the Word can be like that for the flesh.
“You can only overcome the things of life by what you say.”
- Revelation 12:11
- Mark 11:23
1. You have already overcome by the blood of the Lamb
Overcoming is your positional status: you are not going to overcome, you have overcome. Now you must speak the Word, because that is your testimony.
Illustration: Feeling flu coming on as he walked into a chemist with Mark, he said, 'In the name of Jesus, I refuse this thing', and it left him immediately.
“You have overcome that's your positional status.”
- Revelation 12:11
2. By the blood your sins are forgiven
When you pray, don't think about the sins you have committed: every sin, past, present and future, has been forgiven. Paul, after killing Christians, could say he had wronged no man, and that is the righteousness consciousness you must have. The old man is gone and the new man speaks the Word and changes situations.
“Everything's been forgiven.”
- Ephesians 1:7
- 2 Corinthians 7:2
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
3. You are cleansed from all sin
He states it briefly: the blood of Jesus cleanses you from all sin.
- 1 John 1:7
4. By the blood of Jesus you are justified and made righteous
Justified means just as if you had never sinned, righteous before God and before people. How you see yourself matters, because you must love yourself before you can love others. Move out of 'Regret Alley' to Zion, where nothing in your past condemns you, and remember that humility is an attitude of the heart, not an outward show.
Illustration: Newly saved out of Hinduism, he bought the ugliest pair of brown suede shoes in the shop to look humble for church, until the Lord told him that humility is not on the outside but in the heart.
“If they label you and tag you, they can bag you.”
- Romans 5:9
- Matthew 22:39
5. You are sanctified and made a saint
According to Hebrews 13:12 you are a saint, so when someone insults you, answer with what the Word says about you.
“That's what the word of God says I'm a saint.”
- Hebrews 13:12
6. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
When pressure hits, remind yourself that the Spirit of God lives in you, that He will never leave or forsake you, and that your prayers will be answered.
“Inside of me dwells the spirit of God.”
- 1 Corinthians 6:19
- Hebrews 13:5
7. By His stripes and the blood I am made whole
This is the word of your testimony: keep speaking God's Word as you live and operate in life, and you will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.
“That's going to be the word of your testimony.”
- 1 Peter 2:24
- Revelation 12:11
Putting it into practice
- Find out who you are from the Word and refuse any other identity.
- Come to church hungry for the Word, and go to bed early on Saturday.
- Speak to sickness, lack and every mountain instead of complaining about them.
- Make the seven truths about the blood part of your daily confession.
- Check out of 'Regret Alley': tell yourself the old man is gone and love the new person God made.
Closing
He has the church stand and speak the Word over themselves as speaking spirits and atmosphere changers who are cleansed, righteous and full of God's power, refusing depression and sickness and commanding oppressing spirits to leave. As the anointing comes on him he calls a woman forward, and the recording ends there.
Declarations he led
- I am a new creature.
- I have the ability of God.
- I will hide the word in my heart, it will change me, it will transform me.
- I need the word. I need the grace of God. I have the grace of God. I have the power of God in the name of Jesus.
- When I get back home I'm another speaking spirit, so I'll prophesy over my home, over my children, over my circumstances, over my situations. I will change things.
- In me lives the power of God. I'm cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
- When I go through this week I will have power to change my environment. I'm an atmosphere changer.
- Nothing can get me down. I will not be depressed. I refuse to be depressed.
- By the Lamb of God I will overcome. I expect success, I expect favor, I speak life over me.
- No sickness, no disease can come to me because I'm the righteousness of God.
In his words
- “They won't know who you are until you know who you are.”
- “If you don't know who you are, you will allow the devil and people to tell you who you are not.”
- “I can read a scripture 500 times and still get excited about it.”
- “You can only overcome the things of life by what you say.”
- “If they label you and tag you, they can bag you.”
