Enough Is Enough: Stop Stroking the Devil and Shout

Originally recorded as “Enough Is Enough: Midweek Service, 21 May 2008”

Sermon outline

When the enemy puts pressure on God's people, they must stop tolerating it, rejoice, declare 'enough is enough' and put faith pressure back on him, because the One with them is greater.

Main text

  • 2 Kings 6:16
  • 2 Kings 4:26

Opening

He opens in prayer, thanking God for righteousness, the blood and the angels around the church, and prays over every family, ministry team, branch church, businessperson and student. He announces part two of 'God's wisdom is available to you' and has notes handed out, but first shares that the ministry is going through a challenging time of opposition following its change of name.

  1. When you are persecuted, rejoice

The Lord reminded him that a servant is not above his master, and that those who persecuted Jesus will persecute His people, so they should rejoice. Like Paul and Silas singing at midnight until the prison shook, the church will answer with praise. God's sheep are intelligent and know clean water from polluted, and since God cannot answer selfish or cursing prayers, he blesses those who oppose them and prophesies growth: over 1,100 people on a Sunday, more services, more television stations and every member lacking no good thing.

“Tonight, as a man of God, I stand here and I bless them.”

    • John 15:20
    • Acts 16:25-26
    • Psalm 34:10
    • 3 John 2
    • Acts 1:8
  2. They that be with us are more: it is well

As the church shouts, he says more angels came, because those who are with us are more than those against us. He recalls the Shunammite woman who carried her dead child to the prophet and still answered, 'It is well,' and has the people tell each other it is well with their soul, house, finances, church, family and business.

Illustration: Carrying her dead child, the woman told the prophet's servant, 'It is well.'

“When you shouted more angels came.”

    • 2 Kings 6:16
    • 2 Kings 4:26
  3. The same anointing that brought you through will bring you out

He prophesies jobs for the unemployed and tells those in hard times that people and things can be stolen, but the same anointing that delivered them from trouble after trouble will deliver them again. What they saw as a mountain is a molehill; no weapon formed against them will prosper, so they must only believe and lift their eyes to the Lord. He says he first believes and lives what he preaches before he preaches it.

“What you were seeing as a mountain, the Lord tells me to tell you, is a molehill.”

    • Isaiah 54:17
    • Mark 5:36
    • Psalm 121:1-2
  4. Enough is enough: get aggressive with the devil

The trouble with many Christians is that they are not mad enough; they stroke and massage the devil instead of telling him to go. He has them stamp their feet and declare that tonight is the last night for bad dreams, financial pressure and harassment. The devil is a spirit seen only through his manifestations, such as sickness and lack, and he comes to steal, kill and destroy, but he hears when believers speak, so they must make a joyful noise and put faith pressure back on him.

Illustration: Smith Wigglesworth watched a woman whose puppy would not go home until she shouted at it, and it ran with its tail between its legs; that, he said, is how to treat the devil.

“When he puts pressure on us, we put faith pressure back on him.”

    • John 10:10
    • Psalm 100:1
  5. Real people, real miracles: stay in the right environment

He calls up members to show that they are attached not to a dead church or a noise-making church but to one with real miracles: a couple whose struggling trucking business turned around, a woman who had a dream of him and received a financial breakthrough the next day, and a family promotion that very day. Fish must stay in the water they were made for, and believers must stay in the right environment. When you say 'enough is enough', you are calling forth the more than enough.

Illustration: Some fish live in fresh water and others in salt water; move a freshwater fish into salt water and it will die.

“When you say enough is enough then you're calling the more than enough.”

  6. God has the final word

After a time of loud worship, he says religious people do not shout and sing like this; it shows the spirit of liberty. He prophesies dreams, visions and direction as they sleep, and tells those who took a wrong turn, feel stuck or lost their joy that people's words are not the end of the story, because God knows the end from the beginning and will finish what He started. We do not fight people but the spirits that work through them, and every demon pressing on their finances and businesses has been chained.

“It is not the end of the story. He has not given the final word.”

    • 2 Corinthians 3:17
    • Isaiah 46:10
    • Philippians 1:6
    • Ephesians 6:12
    • Matthew 18:18
  7. Don't fight; laugh

Prosperity is one of the anointings on his life, because he was once poor. The Lord tells them not to be afraid or dismayed, and not to take up arms in anger, since anger and violence come from the devil; instead they should stand and laugh, and the wind of God's Spirit will blow their hard places away like dust. Whoever receives a prophet in the name of a prophet receives a prophet's reward, and God will show each of them the way to walk.

“Poor is nice, rich is better.”

    • Ephesians 3:20
    • Isaiah 41:10
    • Matthew 10:41
    • Isaiah 30:21

Putting it into practice

  • Answer opposition with praise and blessing, not cursing.
  • Stop tolerating the devil's harassment: declare 'enough is enough' and mean it.
  • Stay planted in the right spiritual environment.
  • Do not fight people; laugh, believe and let God deal with your hard places.
  • Receive the prophetic word spoken over you and expect God to direct you.

Closing

He welcomes a visiting pastor, prophesies that some will 'smile all the way to the bank' and that God will speak to each of them this week, saying 'this is the way, walk ye in it.' He has them greet one another and sends them home in victory, saying the planned teaching was left in the notes because it was a shouting night.

Declarations he led

  • It is well with you.
  • I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid.
  • Tonight's the last night.
  • Enough is enough.
  • No more poverty. No more sickness. No more disheartenment. No more unhappiness. No more lack.
  • I receive it.

In his words

  • “The things I preach is the things I believe. I first believe them and I live them and then I preach them.”
  • “The trouble with some of the Christians is that they are not mad enough yet.”
  • “When he puts pressure on us, we put faith pressure back on him.”
  • “When you say enough is enough then you're calling the more than enough.”
  • “Tonight's not preaching, it's shouting night.”
