Originally recorded as “He Who Sits in the Heavens Shall Laugh”

Sermon outline

God laughs at everything that rises against His anointed, so His children can laugh their way through every challenge, think big, put their faith to work and walk into the new year expecting increase.

Main text

  • Psalm 2:1-4

Opening

He leads the church in praying in tongues to strengthen themselves at the end of a tiring year, then in waving their tithes and offerings as cheerful givers. He thanks the church for the pastor's appreciation day Pastor Zubeda arranged, announces the book launch, three days of fasting and prayer and the Christmas and New Year services, and declares that 2008 will be a year of laughter and increase for faithful givers.

  1. Stretch beyond your level: God works through your thinking

Whatever level you are at is good, but do not get comfortable there. If your business turns over a certain amount, believe for more; if you won ten souls last year, go for twenty. God cannot do for any of His children apart from their thinking, so what you meditate on and brood over is what He will manifest.

“God cannot do for any individual apart from their thinking.”

  2. Christianity is the great confession

Christianity is a profession in the sense that you are a practitioner of the word. You received salvation by confessing God's word, and you receive everything else the same way: believing, confessing, walking and appropriating. Do not grow weary in well doing.

“Christianity is called the great confession.”

    • Galatians 6:9
  3. God gets excited when you succeed

God rejoices over every success, whether you speak in tongues for the first time, cast out a devil, see someone healed, lead one soul to Christ or buy a new house. As a young Christian he thought God was a sad old man waiting to punish him, but God is excited about your life.

Illustration: Parents shrieking with joy when their baby takes a first step or says a first word: that is how God is about you.

“God gets excited about your success.”

  4. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh

The nations rage against the Lord and His anointed, and God's anointed are those He carefully chose, plucked out and set apart, however much of a mess they were. He has sealed you, telling angels and devils 'this one'. When God sees the confusion He laughs, and so must His children, because pressure cannot destroy someone chosen, authenticated and sent by God.

Illustration: Joseph, chosen by God and sent ahead to preserve Israel. He says this was not the message he planned ('the Holy Spirit will guide you'), but the Holy Spirit was guiding him this way.

“When God sees confusion, he laughs. What must his children do? Just laugh.”

    • Psalm 2:1-4
    • 1 Samuel 16:7
    • John 1:46
    • Ephesians 4:30
    • John 1:6
  5. Think big: wealth transfer

The earth and its fullness belong to the Lord, and to His children. God is waiting for His children to agree with His word so He can transfer wealth into their hands, because all His promises are yes and amen and you have whatever you say. Big thoughts and big plans open the way.

Illustration: Looking out of an aeroplane window at the clouds, the ocean, the mountains and the snow: God made it all.

    “Everything belongs to you.”

    • Psalm 24:1
    • 2 Corinthians 1:20
    • Amos 3:3
    • Mark 11:23-24
  6. Money with a mission: the Lord has need of it

All the money that comes into your hands is money with a mission. Jesus told the disciples to loose the colt and say 'the Lord has need of it', so speak that way over the contracts, jobs and opportunities you are facing. God will not expect you to do the job without giving you the tools.

Illustration: He calls his son Adrian up to act out the disciples loosing the colt.

“All the money that will ever come into your hands is money with a mission.”

    • Luke 19:30-34
  7. Net-breaking experiences: violent faith

Do not stop at small catches; believe for nets that break. Not everyone will see it, only those with violent faith who take it by force instead of saying 'whatever will be, will be'. When you meet an obstruction, remember you have been busy with the construction: praying in tongues, coming to church, sowing and speaking the word, so you can tell the obstruction to go.

Illustration: The religious man who says he is waiting on the Lord in 2005, 2007 and 2011, until he is grey, while the Lord is waiting on him.

“Before you met the obstruction, you have been busy with the construction.”

    • Matthew 11:12
    • Psalm 119:130
  8. Laugh, because the devil is no longer your problem

If the devil destroys your car, buy a better one; if he takes something, trust God for ten times more, because the silver and gold are His. He may look serious, but inside him there is laughter, because the devil tried to stop you, your marriage and your children and failed. Active faith is needed to grab hold of what God has given, and people in the church are testifying of unexpected money and cancelled debts.

Illustration: Feeding a baby with an aeroplane spoon: the child giggles but does not open its mouth. Only those who open their mouths get fed.

“Inside of me, there's a laughter.”

    • Haggai 2:8
  9. Walk on the water at His word 'come'

God wants you to walk on water as Peter did when Jesus said 'come'. Gravity pulls you towards the natural, but the word and the Spirit keep you up, so once you have stepped out in business or faith, do not look at your bank account or your friends; keep remembering the word 'come'. The church is not a natural thing but a spiritual one.

Illustration: He calls a few people to the front row simply by saying 'come', to show that the anointing is right where they are.

“When gravity attempts to pull you down and bring you into the natural, God's Spirit and anointing and the Word will keep you walking on the water.”

    • Matthew 14:28-29
    • Genesis 12:1
    • Zechariah 4:6

Putting it into practice

  • Write down what you expect God to do in 2008 and bring it to the fasting and prayer days.
  • Stretch your goals beyond this year's level, in business and in soul winning.
  • Speak 'the Lord has need of it' over every contract, job and opportunity.
  • Face obstructions with violent faith instead of passively waiting.
  • Laugh at the devil's attacks and say 'it is well'.

Closing

He ministers in the Spirit, urging everyone to drink of the Holy Ghost and be filled, breathes on the congregation in the name of Jesus, and prays for those needing jobs. He reminds them that Paul and Silas praised at midnight, and leads a long declaration of 'it is well' from the Shunammite woman, prophesying over finances, families, businesses, children and the church's branches. The recording ends as he gives a personal word and tells people to write it down.

Declarations he led

  • This is my offering, this is my pledge.
  • I'm a cheerful giver.
  • I'm filled with the anointing of the Lord, I'm filled with the Holy Spirit of God, I'm filled with the laughter of God, I'm filled with the power of God.
  • I'm thirsty for God's anointing. I'm thirsty for His Spirit.
  • It is well with my finances. It is well with my home. It is well with my job. It is well with my family. It's well with my church.
  • It's well, it's well. That is my declaration. That is my confession.

In his words

  • “The greater your revelation, the greater the result.”
  • “God cannot do for any individual apart from their thinking.”
  • “When God sees confusion, he laughs. What must his children do? Just laugh.”
  • “All the money that will ever come into your hands is money with a mission.”
  • “Before you met the obstruction, you have been busy with the construction.”
