Say It and Arise: Speak Prophetically, Not Pathetically

Dr RJ Sing, 30 min, Part 2 of Steps to Healing

Originally recorded as “Steps to Healing, Part 2”

Sermon outline

Healing is received by faith that speaks: decide that enough is enough, say what God's word says, believe you have received it, and get up and act on it.

Main text

  • Mark 11:20-25
  • Mark 5:21-34

Opening

The recording joins him partway through the message, at his second principle: say it with your mouth and arise. He reminds the church of a lady from Umtata who came to a service saying, "Today is my day. I will get healed," and says you have to settle it in your heart in the same way. The start of the message, where he taught the first principle, look and live, is not on this recording.

  1. Principle two: say it with your mouth and arise

You must arise and decide in your heart that enough is enough. God's people are not ordinary, so words of faith come out anointed and speak to the body, giving it strength and causing change. What you confess with your mouth becomes a reality: you have today because of what you said, so change what you say today if you want a different tomorrow. When a bad report comes, he tells them to answer in their heart with the word, because believers live in what he calls the fourth dimension, the realm of the Spirit.

Illustration: The lady from Umtata who decided before the service that God was going to heal her that morning: "Today is my day."

“What you confess with your mouth becomes a reality.”

    • 1 John 4:4
  2. Have faith in God: speak to your mountain

When Peter saw the withered fig tree, Jesus answered, "Have faith in God", or as another translation puts it, have the God kind of faith. Jesus did not say "if the learned" or "those with a degree" but "if anyone", so it applies to you: speak to the condition facing you and do not doubt in your heart. You have to practise your believing and work on your faith, so lay hands on the sick at home. The signs follow those who believe, not only preachers.

Illustration: Travelling the night before with Mark and Pastor Zubeda, he told them he used to hold back from people in wheelchairs and on crutches for fear that nothing would happen if he prayed. He has passed that stage, though he adds that you must be led of God.

“You've got to practice your believing.”

    • Mark 11:20-23
    • Mark 16:17-18
  3. Believe that you have received, and forgive

Mark 11:24 does not say believe that you are now receiving it. It says believe that you have received, in the past tense. So after prayer you thank God that it is yours, before it is in your hands, and that is how it moves from the realm of the Spirit into the physical. He applies this to the women he prayed for in the service who are believing for children. Verse 25 adds forgiveness: do not hold anything in your heart against anyone, because you want miracles from God.

Illustration: If he turned to the ladies and asked, "Have you got your baby today?", the answer must be, "Yes, Pastor, I've received it."

“Whatever you ask in prayer, when you stand up from that place, believe that you have received it.”

    • Mark 11:24-25
  4. The woman who said it, went and touched

On the way to Jairus's house there was a woman who had bled for twelve years, had spent all she had and had only grown worse. She said, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed," pressed through the crowd and touched, and Jesus told her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you." She spoke and she took action, whatever the others said, which is principle two. He adds that Jesus is present where two or three gather in His name, so come to a service prepared, having fasted and prayed in the week.

Illustration: People who say "today is my day" before they leave the house for a crusade. The preacher does not even know them: it was between them and their God.

“Always in a crowd, in a multitude, you'll just get that one person that will believe God.”

    • Mark 5:21-34
    • Matthew 18:20
  5. Speak the word over everything: prophetically, not pathetically

After praying for the sick he keeps teaching that saying it is the teaching of the whole New Testament, because words spoken under the anointing carry creative power. A book by Don Gossett showed him that if he did not say it he would not have it, so much of his prayer became the confession of God's word. He urges the church to speak blessing over their homes, businesses, finances and work, and says he himself speaks of preaching to thousands as he walks into church. Speaking the word changes the atmosphere.

Illustration: Walking into church he mutters under his breath, "In the name of the Lord, I'm preaching to thousands." Is it happening yet? No: he is speaking things into existence.

“If you do not speak prophetically you are speaking pathetically.”

    • Mark 16:17-18
    • 2 Corinthians 8:9
    • Zechariah 4:6

Putting it into practice

  • Decide that enough is enough, and say so out loud.
  • When you have prayed, thank God that you have received, and keep saying it.
  • Let go of unforgiveness.
  • Practise your believing: lay hands on the sick in your own home.
  • Prepare your heart before you come to a service, with prayer and fasting in the week.

Closing

He says he has given only two of the principles and will give the other three on Tuesday night. He asks everyone with an affliction to stand, rebukes every sickness and speaks healing over them, then leads the church in a confession with their hands raised. The service keeps going as he gives words from the Lord about speaking boldly in the workplace, releases the anointing, has them declare blessing and provision, and says some will have a testimony by the end of the week.

Declarations he led

  • Have faith in God.
  • I'm anointed. I'm empowered to prosper, to walk in divine health. Great things are going to happen.
  • When I lay hands on the sick they shall recover in the name of the Lord. I'm anointed to preach the gospel. I will get results.
  • These signs shall follow me. If I lay hands on the sick they will recover. If I lay hands on myself I will recover.
  • Sickness and disease shall not rule in my body, shall not reign in my body.
  • Promotion cometh to me. I'll be promoted in the name of the Lord Jesus.
  • In the name of the Lord Jesus I'm loaded. In the name of the Lord Jesus I am blessed. In the name of the Lord Jesus I shall not lack.
  • I refuse to be poor. Jesus became poor that I may become rich. I have the wealth of Abraham. Watch me now. Watch what I can do. God's with me.
  • Contracts are coming. Money is coming. The blessing of the Lord is coming. Promotion is coming.

In his words

  • “What you confess with your mouth becomes a reality.”
  • “You have today because of what you said. If you want to change it tomorrow, change what you say today.”
  • “You've got to practice your believing. You've got to work on your believing.”
  • “If you can catch Bible truth and practice it, it will work for you.”
  • “If you do not speak prophetically you are speaking pathetically.”
