Sermon outline
The mimshak anointing for expansion that Jesus received now rests on every believer, giving clarity of purpose, wisdom, influence and increase, so act on it: work, sow, speak success over every situation and refuse poverty thinking.
Main text
- Ezekiel 28:12-15
- Luke 4:18-21
- Genesis 28:14
Opening
After welcoming a visitor from the United States and congratulating a couple on the birth of their son, he prays and asks whether they enjoyed Sunday's service. He explains that preaching under the Spirit is not aimed at the intellect: the human spirit is a 'signal catcher', and when it catches an anointed word, an explosion takes place inside and circumstances become subject to change. He then turns to Ezekiel 28, announcing 'this is part two of the Mimshak anointing'.
The anointed cherub and the meaning of mimshak
Before his fall, Lucifer was 'the anointed cherub', and the Hebrew word, mimshak, means growth, expansion and outspreading with outstretched wings. When iniquity was found in him, that anointing was removed; it came on Jesus, who announced 'the Spirit of the Lord is upon me', and He transferred it to the church. Everyone who is born again and Spirit-filled can now say the same, and this particular anointing is for expansion and growth.
“You cannot have the Spirit of the Lord God on you and prepare for failure.”
- Ezekiel 28:12-15
- Luke 4:18-21
- Mark 16:15
Failure is not your portion, and your mind is anointed
Challenges will come, but none is designed to destroy you; they grow you to the next level, and all things work together for good. Like David before Goliath, don't cave in or cry. The anointing gives a sharp, accurate mind that does not forget, and the Holy Spirit warns you of plots at work, as Elisha told Israel's king the Syrian king's plans. He is like an inner GPS telling you left, right or straight.

“No challenge comes to you is designed to destroy you.”

- 2 Corinthians 4:6
- 2 Kings 6:8-12
- Romans 8:14
Thou shalt spread abroad: three things the anointing does
God promised Jacob that his seed would spread abroad to the west, east, north and south and bless all the families of the earth, and many people trapped in ungodliness are waiting for someone to show them the way. The mimshak anointing causes you, first, to walk with clarity of purpose; second, to identify your role in the vision of the church, without waiting until you feel spiritual; and third, to let your influence flood your hometown, so that neighbours three roads away know where to come when things go wrong.
“Your influence must flood your hometown.”
- Genesis 28:14
- Isaiah 30:21
Wisdom that excels
Solomon's wisdom excelled all the wisdom of the east and of Egypt, and the world came to hear it. Your academic knowledge only takes you so far; the spirit of wisdom supersedes it, so that you buy where others say not to and the property is worth ten times as much two years later. People will ask to learn from you, and ideas, thoughts and concepts will flood your mind.
Illustration: Buying a property on God's prompting when others say the location is bad, and seeing it worth ten times as much two years later.
“Your knowledge, your scientific knowledge comes to an end... But then something else supersedes that. It's called the wisdom of God.”
- 1 Kings 4:30
- 1 Kings 10:23
Anointed for work: start small, but don't stay there
He interrupts his message to call forward those looking for work. Man was created to work, and the anointing does not replace effort: prepare a CV, apply, go to interviews and take what you are offered. Be willing to start with a broom, but while sweeping, look at the manager's desk and outwork everyone, because God will use the boss to promote you. He gives them thirty days to be employed and prays over them.
Illustration: You would not come home dirty and sweaty from the fields and say the anointing will clean you; you get in the shower and scrub.
“You're willing to take anything, but you are not willing to stay there.”
- Genesis 2:15
- Luke 16:8
- Proverbs 6:10-11
- Job 8:7
- James 2:20
The mimshak anointing over your finances
Work, save, budget and tithe, but expect a 'super' over your natural. Your prosperity is linked to the prosperity of your soul, and God gives the power to get wealth. This anointing repels poverty and poverty consciousness: instead of saving for a rainy day, you look for ground to sow in, because sowing is never a loss but an opportunity for increase. Learn to make war with your finances; even if you have little, you might as well sow it.
Illustration: A young woman who had only thirty rand wrote 'Standard Bank' on her envelope, sowed it all, applied for a job there and got it. He also says preachers ask him the secret of his success and he tells them 'my sowing'.
“Learn how to make war with your finances.”
- 3 John 2
- Deuteronomy 8:18
- Psalm 144:1
- Luke 6:38
- Proverbs 11:24
Expansion for the church and its branches
The anointing on the church is for growth. A new women's meeting in Phoenix that began with five is a picture of the fivefold ministry and will grow to fifty and five hundred. Cell groups and branches cannot remain small; the pastor is one person, but the same anointing is shared with those who go out to new areas. If two agree, it will be done.
“You're running your cell group. You cannot remain small.”
- Job 8:7
- Matthew 18:19
Baptise it with success and command your Red Sea
Before you face a difficult situation, pray in the morning and baptise it with success by your words. At the Red Sea Moses cried to God, but the sea parted when he lifted up his rod and stretched out his hand: the power was in his hand. So don't cry or sing about your Red Sea; command it to part, and baptise your cell group, your bank account and your bills with success.
Illustration: Squeezing the ATM slip in frustration at the balance, instead of saying 'I baptize you with success'.
“Lord, I take that situation and I baptize it with success.”
- Exodus 14:15-21
Think, dress, walk and eat like a king
Don't squeeze or crumple money; he keeps his notes uncreased and in order, because what you handle with respect you can command. You can only tell money to come when you can tell it to go by sowing. Drive, dress and walk with the attitude of a king, walk up to the most expensive rack instead of being intimidated, and stop grabbing food as if there will never be enough, because that is poverty consciousness. The talents parable shows God expects multiplication, and He who cares for birds and lilies will care for you.

“You cannot tell it to come until you can say go.”
- Matthew 25:24-30
- Matthew 6:26-30
- 2 Peter 1:3
Putting it into practice
- Ask God for clarity of purpose and take your place in the vision of the church.
- If you need work, prepare a CV, apply widely and take a starting job while aiming higher.
- Sow cheerfully and see giving as war-making, not loss.
- Each morning, baptise the day's difficulties with success in prayer.
- Handle money with respect and refuse poverty thinking in how you speak, shop and eat.
Closing
He has the church declare that money, wealth, favour and promotion are coming to them and that they are millionaires and loaded. He then gives words of knowledge: two people believing for an overseas trip, a young woman believing for a car, a young man with a business idea for biscuits, someone in insurance, people in real estate, someone with a packaging machine, and a couple who will build on new land, saying he is 'in a zone' where God is showing him things. The service ends with a song.
Declarations he led
- I'm a blessing.
- Unemployment is not for us.
- That wisdom is in me. It's functioning in me.
- Lord Jesus, I thank you that that anointing is on me. I'm increasing. I'm growing. I'm expanding. I'm influential.
- Money come to me. Wealth come to me. In the name of Jesus, from the east, from the west, from the north, from the south.
- I'm a millionaire. I'm wealthy. I'm loaded.
In his words
- “It is a spirit speaking to a spirit.”
- “Failure is not your portion.”
- “Never look at sowing as a loss. It is an opportunity for increase.”
- “Every time I had a great need all I did was I found some seed I sowed the seed and God just took me to one level to another.”
- “Lord, I take that situation and I baptize it with success.”
