The Word of God – A Record of His Testimonies (Part 2)

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“Blessed [are] they that keep his testimonies, [and that] seek him with the whole heart.”
Psalm 119:2

We will continue the devotional from where we left off yesterday. We will now deal the sixth and eighth synonyms of God’s Word.

  1. Judgments (Mispatim) or ordinances refer to decisions God has made as a judge in order to make earthly behaviour conform to His Heavenly Standard.
  2. Word (Dabar) is an all-embracing term for God’s Revelation in any form.
  3. Word (Im’ra) might also be translated “Promise” though the translation does not distinguish it from the preceding term to whose meaning it relates closely. It comes from the verb “to say” and assumes that the content of Revelation is from the Mouth of God.

The Word of God then is indeed a record of His testimonies. We are instructed to love the Lord and of course His Word. *“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”Deuteronomy 6:5. Also, as we look at the following Scriptures we see the importance of diligently walking in His commandments. “And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, Deuteronomy 11:13. “Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 13:3.*
