The Word of God – A Code of His Precepts

Dr RJ Sing

“ Thou hast commanded [us] to keep thy precepts diligently.”
Psalm 119:4

We are commanded to keep His Precepts diligently. As we serve the Lord, He opens our eyes and gives us illumination. This refers to the Ministry of the Holy Spirit by which he causes Christians to understand the truth of God revealed in Scripture. The Psalmist recognised the need for supernatural aid in understanding the Scriptures and prayed that his eyes would be opened. This would also be a good prayer for Christians today, as you would approach the Scriptures.

Since the Bible was written by Holy men of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, it should be read by Holy men and women of God illumined by the Holy Spirit. Let us now look at the following Scriptures:

“The secret [things belong] unto the LORD our God: but those [things which are] revealed [belong] unto us and to our children for ever, that [we] may do all the words of this law.”

Deuteronomy 29:29

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world.”

Hebrew 1:1-2

As you do the Word of God, you walk and function in life in a sober and an anointed fashion. As you do the Word of God, you remain sober and you will not be intoxicated with the system of the world.
