Power Principle for Giving No.15
Dr RJ Sing
“I have not coveted anyone's silver or gold or clothing. You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
PRINCIPLE NO.15: THE BLESSING IS NOT ON WHAT YOU RECEIVE, BUT IN WHAT YOU GIVE. Here in Paul’s farewell charge to the Elders in the Ephesian Church, in Verse 35, He refers to the Great Truth that Jesus taught, “…It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Jesus’ major emphasis in all of His teaching concerning giving focused upon the importance of Giving, Not Receiving.
Paul’s life was an example of how we are to give. Paul gave of Himself unselfishly and unreservedly to God and to the people. He gave himself untiringly to the Ministry of the Gospel, without expecting a reward.
Paul did not just preach a Sermon. He lived it and demonstrated that “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. When we give to God as He directed in His Word, we can expect His blessings to be multiplied back into our lives, “… Pressed down, and shaken together and running over…” (Luke 6:38) We can depend and act in Faith upon His promises, Believing that He will do all that He has promised.
