You Are to Be Persistent!
Pastor Zubeda Sing
“5Yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will defend and protect and avenge her, lest she give me [a]intolerable annoyance and wear me out by her continual coming or [b]at the last she come and rail on me or [c]assault me or [d]strangle me”
We are to learn from the Biblical account of the persistent widow. Let us now examine the entire account. *1Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to [a]turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).2He said, In a certain city there was a judge who neither reverenced and feared God nor respected or considered man. 3And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, Protect and defend and give me justice against my adversary. 4And for a time he would not; but later he said to himself, Though I have neither reverence or fear for God nor respect or consideration for man. (See vs 5 above)*
This woman continued, to come to the unjust judge saying, “Protect and defend me & give me Justice against my adversary”. At first the judge was not moved, but because of her persistence he eventually granted her request. Her persistence was effective in persuading Him.
It seems as though that we are to embrace these two virtues in order to be strong in Faith. Let us now look at the meaning of the word persistence so that you can embrace it; To continue doing something firmly or obstinately in spite of opposition or failure. God expects you to be strong in Faith & He expects you to be persistent.
