A God Who Sees
Dr RJ Sing
“And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?”
Hagar was mistreated by Sarai, so she fled. In the desert, God met her at a spring and asked her, “Hagar, where have you come from, and where are you going?” (v.8). When Hagar replied that she was running away from her mistress, He asked her to go back. Hagar called the spring where she met the Angel of God ‘Beer Lahai Roi’, which means “well of the living One who sees me”
God saw Hagar in the desert and He was willing to help her, provided she was willing to obey – to turn back and go home. Sometimes, when times are tough, you might think that God no longer sees you. “Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” David asks God at the start of Psalms 10.
Yet, at the end of the Psalm, he testifies, “But you, O God, do you see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand” (v.14). “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him,” Hanani assures King Asa (2 Chr 16:9). God is watching you today. He is ready to help you when you need His help. Remember, He is always with you.
