Principles for Giving No.3 (Part 2)

Dr RJ Sing

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich”
2 Corinthians 8:9

The unlimited, unsearchable riches which belonged to God Almighty, and were a part of His very being, were Christ’s. He possessed all wisdom, all knowledge and all power. The vast riches of God’s incomparable, immeasurable Love, Grace, Mercy, Righteousness and all His Divine attributes were Christ’s.

Not only did Christ possess all the wealth and riches of that which He had created in the existing heavens and earth, He also possessed the Divine ability to create an unlimited, immeasurable supply of riches and wealth far beyond man’s comprehension. Christ possessed all! Yet, He chose to become poor.

The word “poor” in this verse is translated from the Greek Word “Ptocheno” which means “to be destitute”. Possessing all wealth, Christ willingly gave it up for our sake that we might be made rich. He gave His immeasurable wealth and riches willingly, so that you and I would no longer be poor.
