7 Laws of Wealth and 7 Decisions That Decide Your Prosperity

Dr RJ Sing, 23 min, Lesson 103, Part 3 of Business and Leadership

Originally preached as “Business and Leadership 103: 9 July 2017”

Sermon outline

Harvest comes by seeding, not pleading, and wealth follows those who live by God's laws: belief, focus, difference, relationship, the mind, honour and obedience.

Main text

  • Genesis 8:22
  • Proverbs 24:3

Opening

He opens with a prayer of thanksgiving and praise, declaring Jesus Lord over the church and thanking God for taking people who were nothing and making something beautiful. Those who came from rags, he says, have a praise nobody can take out of them. He explains that he is still on Business and Leadership 103, part three, but will be brief because it is a special day and he is giving up some of his time for testimonies.

  1. The power of agreement

He reads an email testimony. On 6 July a Dr Dennis wrote from Australia asking Pastor Zubeda and him to agree in prayer for the sale of his son David's car for 25,000 dollars, after only two lukewarm enquiries. They prayed over the printed email, and the next day he wrote back that the car had sold for the full amount in cash. Distance cannot prevent the power of two people agreeing.

Illustration: A man phoned and wrote from a continent away, and the answer came within a day. He would like one day to write a book called The Power of Two.

“There is nothing that can prevent the power of agreement.”

    • Matthew 18:19
  2. The law of the seed

God introduces laws in Genesis 8:22: seedtime and harvest will not cease while the earth remains. He repeats that the person of Jesus Christ is different from the principles, or laws, of God, and adds a second distinction: everyone can rely on the goodness of God, but the favour of God comes by engaging the laws in the Bible. A house is built by wisdom, not by rituals, and the onus of getting wisdom lies on us. Your harvest comes by seeding, not pleading.

Illustration: Some people plead, cry and intercede for hours and nothing happens, because they plead and never seed. Whenever he faces a battle or a mountain, he sows a 'battle seed' so that God gives him a strategy out of the dilemma.

“Your harvest always comes by seeding, not pleading.”

    • Genesis 8:22
    • Proverbs 24:3
    • Proverbs 4:5
    • Psalm 37:25
  3. 1. The law of belief

Believe that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, and do not put Him in time frames. The tension is always between where you are now and the manifestation, which is why patience is needed and why the one who wavers receives nothing. Keep believing whatever you see or hear, and refuse to be offended out of it by gossip or disagreement.

Illustration: The perfect church is an empty church, with the seats empty and the doors locked. As soon as people walk in there are problems. He adds that we should thank our enemies, because they kept us on our knees.

“As long as you have faces, you have issues, that's why we have some tissues.”

    • Hebrews 11:6
    • James 1:6-7
    • Hebrews 12:2
  4. 2. The law of focus

Do not let your eyes scan left and right. Keep telling yourself that you are going to make it and that what God did for others He will do for you.

Illustration: A runner does not look at the crowd or the people cheering. His eyes are on the finishing tape.

    “We must not lose focus.”

  5. 3. The law of difference

In church we want everyone to be just like us, but each person is unique in personality, gender, ethnicity and culture. Celebrate the difference and love people for it. Those who understand this law can transact across the barriers and make money; those who stay in their little corner cannot.

Illustration: Some of us are feisty and some docile. Some can sleep through anything crashing next to them.

    “We must celebrate our difference.”

  6. 4. The law of relationship

Relationships take effort to keep and are easy to break but hard to rebuild, so work on them and keep a good attitude. Pastors get tired, frustrated and challenged like everyone else, but keep going, because life is a fight and Christianity is not for weaklings.

Illustration: People think the pastor has two wings and two gas tanks, eats manna from heaven and sleeps one hour a day. 'No, we're just like you.'

“It takes effort to keep a relationship.”

    • 1 Timothy 6:12
  7. 5. The law of the mind

Know how to focus and rule the mind so that it works for you and does not control you. Hold a picture of what you want and go for it.

Illustration: Visualisation: pictures up on the wall to remind you where you are going.

“Something good is going to happen to me.”

  8. 6. The law of honour

Honour will make you a wealthy person. Do not be forgetful: honour your parents and people in places of authority, and give honour where it is due.

“Just to give honor where honor is due.”

    • Romans 13:7
  9. 7. The law of obedience

Be obedient to the Word of God, not hearers only but doers.

“We must be doers of the word of God.”

    • James 1:22
  10. Seven decisions that will decide your prosperity

He runs through them quickly: to write out a list of specific goals and keep them in front of you; to become a lifetime learner; to show honour to the scriptural chain of authority; to excel in solving problems for someone who is trusting you, because as you solve theirs God will solve yours; to make the Holy Spirit your lifetime counsellor; to pursue mentorship from uncommon financial advisors; and to sow a seed into the work of God with persistent expectation.

“When you wrap your seed with expectation and you sow it, it will come back to you.”

Putting it into practice

  • Find someone to agree with you in prayer.
  • When you need a harvest, sow, and in a battle sow a battle seed.
  • Write out specific goals and keep them, and pictures of your future, in front of you.
  • Guard your relationships, give honour where it is due and refuse to be offended.
  • Keep learning, seek out financial mentors and sow with persistent expectation.

Closing

He has the church say the seven laws of wealth back with him, asks Adrian for two or three minutes more, and lists the seven decisions that will decide their prosperity. He finishes on wrapping your seed with expectation and asks, 'Did you get something out of that?' before moving to the next part of the service. The recording ends there.

Declarations he led

  • Through wisdom a house is built. And by understanding, it is established.

  • “Remember that when you are in a battle, sow a battle seed.”

  • “It was our enemies that kept us on our knees.”
