Partnership letter
Seed Principle
From the desk of Pastor Sing
Greetings to my precious partners in Christ. This month I would like to share with you along the lines of the “SEED PRINCIPLE”. I trust that you would be blessed by this partnership letter and reap a tremendous harvest as you sow into the Kingdom of God.
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
Paul takes pains to reveal the reality of giving. He calls it “sowing and reaping.” Giving is sowing seed. That is not a metaphor; it is not like sowing seed, it is actually sowing something. In the way that we sow seeds into the ground, we can do the same with our money. The simple act of giving is what establishes our money as seed sown. Investing our money in land, banks, shares, or bonds is not sowing. Sowing is giving to God, to His church, and to people in need.
The Seed Principle
God has designed the natural and the spiritual world to run on the seed principle. The entire kingdom of God operates on the seed principle. Unless a seed is sown, it has no power to reproduce. When the seed is sown, it’s amazing, miraculous power goes to work.
Seeds were found in the ancient Egyptian tomb of King Tutankhamen, who was buries along with many treasures over three thousand years ago. Yet, in all that time, those seeds accomplished absolutely nothing. After being found, some of them were planted in the fertile soil on the banks of the Nile. It wasn’t long before they sprang up and produced a harvest of fruitful plants. All the time the seeds were in the tomb they remained barren. Once planted, they began to do the impossible: they blossomed to life and produced thousands more seeds than they started with all that after lying dormant and useless for three thousand years!
The apostle Paul is not attempting to give us a lesson in agriculture. He is telling us that as soon as we give the seed, we release the miracle. What we give becomes a seed in the soil of heaven and will inevitably return to us as a bountiful harvest!
“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.”
God supplies seed to the sower. Some think that when they have enough money, then they will begin giving. They are missing the point! The route to having enough is in giving what you have now. As we saw is when God supplies more seed for us to sow!
Some people say that when they get million Rands they’ll give to the church. I would say they should give the hundred they have in their pockets right now, and they’ll have a better chance of attaining that million they’re dreaming about. Inevitably, many people have an: excuse as to why they can’t give now, and I inevitably never see those people actually bring in the millions-much less the hundreds. In general, the talkers don’t give and the givers don’t talk.
On the positive side, I’ve also seen people make a commitment to sow into a ministry even though they do not yet have the money. They want to give, and they genuinely make a heartfelt commitment and put in a pledge. Then God begins to move, and they find themselves in a new realm of supply.
Each year my wife and I make a new commitment to our church’s building fund. We make giving goals, not just getting goals. As we do this, God supplies seed. He has promised to supply seed to the sower, to those committed to giving to the house of God.
The Way of the Sower
Being a sower is moving from the verb to the noun. It is moving from doing something to being something. Being a sower means that giving is a lifestyle, it’s the purpose of living. It isn’t just about sowing seed, it’s about becoming a sower. It is a way of life. You become known as a sower. As a sower, you also become a perpetual harvester because sowers are always reaping as they sow.
“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.”
Once we commit ourselves to being sowers, God ensures that we have seed for sowing.
We Love You very Much, Dr. Roshan and Pastor Zubeda Sing.
