Understanding Your Purpose – Part 5
Dr RJ Sing
“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
Knowing your purpose also simplifies your life. It defines what you do and what you don’t do. Your purpose becomes the standard. People who don’t know their purpose try to do too much and this causes stress, fatigue and conflict. Proverbs 13:7 (MES) “A Pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life.”
When you know your purpose it focuses your life. It concentrates your effort and energy on what’s important. To become effective you must be selective. Most people make themselves busy with minor issues and if you want your life to have an impact, focus it. Philippians 3:13 (NLT) “No dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing; forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. ”
Your purpose in life motivates your life and it always produces passion. Nothing energizes like a clear purpose. Passion dissipates when you lack purpose and meaningless work and chores wear us down. So, knowing your purpose stimulates and motivates your life.
