Understanding Your Purpose – Part 4

Dr RJ Sing

“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
Romans 12:2 – NLT

People also thrive on the need for approval. They allow expectations of people to control their lives. These are people who allow expectations of others to control them and many of them are still trying to obtain approval from others. Some are driven by peer pressure. They are always worried about what others think and those who follow the crowd get lost in it. One key to failure is to trying to please everyone.

Being controlled by opinions of others is a guaranteed way to miss God’s purposes for your life. There are other forces that drive your life, but they all lead to the same dead end. Matthew 6:24 (NLT) “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.”

Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life. We are made to have a meaning that’s why people try dubious methods like astrology to discover it. When life has a meaning you can bear anything. Jeremiah 29:11(NCV) “I say this because I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not the plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.”
