Understanding Your Purpose – Part 10

Dr RJ Sing

“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
Romans 12:2 – NLT

When anything in creation fulfills its purpose, it brings Glory to God. God made ants to be ants and you to be you. St. Irenaeus said: “The Glory of God is a human being fully alive.” There are many ways to bring glory to God, but they can be summarized in God’s five purposes for your life.

  1. We bring Glory to God by Worshipping Him. It is our first responsibility to God. He wants our worship to be motivated by love, thanksgiving and delight not duty. Worship is a lifestyle of enjoying God, loving Him and giving ourselves to Him to be used for His purpose. When you use your life for God’s Glory, everything you do can become the Act of worship and use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the Glory of God.
  2. Loving other believers brings glory to God. Romans 15:7 (NLT) “So accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified.” When we are born again we become part of God’s family. Following Christ is not a matter of just believing it also includes belonging and learning to love the family of God. It is our responsibility to learn to love as God does because God is love and it honours Him. (John 13:34-35)
