For Joseph's Sake: Favour That Spills Over on Everyone Around You

Dr RJ Sing, 18 October 2020, 36 min, Part 2 of Enjoying the Favor of God

This is the whole service. The video opens where he begins, at 40:02.

Originally preached as “Enjoying the Favor of God, Part 2”

Sermon outline

Favour is God's high regard and preferential treatment, so declare it daily over your life and over the people you lead, because favour brings blessing, prosperity and victory and, as with Joseph, it spills over to bless everyone around you.

Main text

  • Luke 2:40
  • Judges 13:24
  • Genesis 39:2-6

Opening

He welcomes church family and viewers as Dr Sing from FCI Rhema Durban, picking up where he left off last week on enjoying God's favour, and encourages those facing negative circumstances to keep looking to God and walking by faith, not by sight. After Romans 10:17 he prays that the Word goes out unhindered, binds Satan, and asks that viewers experience God's favour in a tremendous way.

  1. Jesus grew in favour

Luke 2:40 says the grace, favour and spiritual blessing of God was on the child Jesus, and Samson grew and the Lord blessed him. Jesus grew in four areas: in wisdom, in stature, in favour with God and in favour with men. Psalm 103 lists the Lord's benefits: He forgives, heals, redeems your life from the pit, crowns you with love and satisfies your desires with good things.

    • Luke 2:40
    • Judges 13:24
    • Luke 2:52
    • Psalm 103:2-6
    • Psalm 103:17-18
  2. Raise your expectation and keep confessing favour

As last week, he urges people to raise their expectations, believe favour is their portion and confess it daily, whatever storm or crisis has arisen. Even at midnight, keep singing, praising and confessing favour. Favour means high regard and approval, something granted out of goodwill rather than payment, a gift not earned or bought, a token of love and friendship, and preferential treatment with special privileges.

“When you acknowledge God's favor, it motivates him to favor you even more.”

    • Acts 16:25
  3. Declare favour over your mountains

The Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant, and whoever speaks to the mountain without doubting will have what he says. Revelation of favour is not enough; we must declare it every day, because declaring favour is connected to seeing it. Mountains loom and try to daunt us as Goliath did David, but like David know you have a covenant with God, that you are marked with His blessing, and shout grace and favour over your challenges.

Illustration: He declares over viewers that he sees their mountains crumbling, solutions and divine assistance coming, marriages turning around, financial breakthrough, promotion and divine strategies visiting them.

“Each one of you that's walking with God, you are marked with the blessings of God.”

    • Psalm 35:27
    • Mark 11:23-24
    • 1 Samuel 17
    • Zechariah 4:6-7
  4. Paul declared favour over the church

Again and again Paul greeted the churches with grace, favour and spiritual blessing, because he wanted them to know that the favour of God brings blessing, prosperity and victory. If you lead people as a supervisor, manager, teacher or minister, speak peace and grace over them rather than calling out what you see. Great grace rested on the early church so that no one among them was in need, and we should expect the same favour on our lives and churches today.

“Don't call out circumstances, what you're seeing. Call out God's word and speak it over them.”

    • Romans 1:7
    • 1 Corinthians 1:3
    • 2 Corinthians 1:2
    • Galatians 6:18
    • Acts 4:33-34
    • Philippians 1:7
  5. Heirs of the blessing

Those led by the Spirit are sons of God, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, and Christ redeemed us from the curse so that the blessing of Abraham comes on the Gentiles. When favour is on your life you are on your way to victory: whatever you celebrate and confess comes towards you, and whatever you criticise moves away. Favour is the difference between winning and losing, so never give up, because favour produces heaped blessings.

“Everything that you celebrate and everything that you confess will come towards you.”

    • Romans 8:14-17
    • Galatians 3:13-14
  6. Blessed for Joseph's sake

The Lord was with Joseph and made all he did prosper; his master saw it, made him overseer of everything, and the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake. Wherever you are employed or run a business, God will favour those around you because of you. Joseph was well favoured and nothing could stop him, and you walk in the same favour: your low circumstances are only a temporary station.

“God will give others around you favor because of your sake.”

    • Genesis 39:2-6
    • 1 Samuel 2:26
  7. His favour is for a lifetime

The enemy wants to silence you, but speak out your faith: Job declared in the middle of his storm that God had granted him life and favour, and so can you, over your household, business and workplace. The Lord is a sun and shield who gives grace and glory and withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly. His anger is for a moment, but His favour is for a lifetime.

“If Job made a declaration in the midst of the storm, you too can make the same declaration.”

    • Job 10:12
    • Psalm 84:11
    • Psalm 30:5

Putting it into practice

  • Raise your expectation and believe favour is for you.
  • Confess and declare God's favour every day, whatever the storm.
  • If you lead others, speak grace and peace over them, not the circumstances.
  • Celebrate favour instead of criticising.
  • Declare grace and favour over your household, business and workplace.

Closing

He declares over viewers that they are blessed and highly favoured, that wealth and riches are in their house, that favour shields them from sickness and fear, and that explosive blessings are coming their way. He leads a prayer of salvation, urges people to find a Bible-based church, prays against sickness and financial storms, and gives the priestly blessing, promising to continue on favour next week.

Declarations he led

  • Dear God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I now ask Jesus to come into my heart, cleanse me of all of my sins, and become the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit.
  • I declare I'm saved, I'm born again, I'm a child of God. I now have Christ dwelling in me. And greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.

In his words

  • “Favor from the Lord guarantees you success.”
  • “We all have challenges, but the favor of God will bail you out.”
  • “Your low circumstances is not your final landing place. It's just a temporary station, not your final destination.”
  • “God's favor will produce heaped blessings on your life.”
  • “Explosive blessings are coming your way.”
