You Came Fully Financed: Think Like a God of Abundance

Dr RJ Sing, 1 hr 10 min

Originally preached as “Power for Success and Prosperity”

Sermon outline

God has abundance on His mind, and when you fill your heart with His Word and agree with it, you will think, speak and live in the prosperity He has already provided.

Main text

  • Genesis 1:20-28
  • Genesis 12:1-3
  • Genesis 22:17-18
  • Galatians 3:14

Opening

He has the church turn to Genesis 1 and repeat the title with him. He shares that he asked two people what heaven's biggest problem is, and gives the answer: believers who will not believe God's Word or listen to the Holy Spirit who has been given to them.

  1. Heaven's biggest problem: believers who will not believe the Word

Every Christian is blessed with all spiritual blessings, yet not everyone walks in them, because not every heart responds to the Word. Like the seed in the parable of the sower, the harvest depends on the condition of the heart. Confession works when it comes from a heart filled to overflowing with the Word, not from the head or because the pastor said so.

“If you're walking in lack and poverty, it's not a God problem. It's a Word problem.”

    • John 14:26
    • Ephesians 1:3
    • Mark 4:14-20
  2. God has abundance on His mind

When God sees one person He sees a family, a city, a nation and generations to come, so His children ought to have abundance on their minds too. You are made in His image as a speaking spirit with a creative force inside you, created to have dominion. Train yourself to think bigger, better thoughts, because success comes sooner to those who think success.

Illustration: Where did the fish on the fire come from, and where did the fish get the coin in its mouth? God spoke them into being. Come with a cup and you get a cup full; come with a bucket, a lake or an ocean and you get that full.

“God is a God of abundance. His children ought to have abundance on their mind.”

    • Proverbs 23:7
    • John 21:9
    • Matthew 17:27
    • Genesis 1:26-28
  3. Get out of the land of Not Enough

God told Abraham to leave his country and his father's house for a land God would show him, promising to bless him and make him a blessing. You may be living in a land of lack that God never showed you, and it is time to move on. God has multiplication, not addition, on His mind, and you must agree with what He says about you.

Illustration: The prodigal son eating pig husks came to himself, went home and found a party, a robe, a ring and sandals waiting. If you find yourself in a pigsty, it is time to move on to 'the land of the loaded'.

“If you find yourself in a pigsty it's a time to move on.”

    • Genesis 12:1-4
    • Luke 15:11-24
    • Amos 3:3
    • Genesis 22:17-18
  4. You come fully financed by God

Every child of God comes into the world fully financed, which is why Jesus said to take no thought for tomorrow and Paul said to be anxious for nothing. God cares for the birds and the lilies, knows you by name and has you engraved on the palms of His hands. Even careless everyday speech like 'take care' works against this, so rather say 'be blessed'.

Illustration: On a flight the day before, the cabin crew told passengers to 'take care'. He teaches that the phrase really means 'be anxious', and that believers should say 'be blessed' or 'have a glorious day' instead.

“You are too blessed to be stressed.”

    • Matthew 6:34
    • Philippians 4:6
    • Matthew 6:26-30
    • Matthew 10:29-31
    • Isaiah 49:16
  5. The blessing of Abraham is yours through Christ

Jesus has died, risen and ascended, so the blessing of Abraham has come on the Gentiles. Have the mind of Christ, which is multiplication: He knew He would multiply the boy's lunch before He asked the disciples how to feed the crowd. Poverty and sickness are spirits to be driven out by the anointed Word, and you should stop playing down your blessings with false humility.

Illustration: Jesus fed five thousand besides women and children and then gathered twelve baskets of fragments. He also warns against answering a compliment on your car or suit with 'oh, this is an old suit', because you get what you say.

“As long as a man or a woman has seed in his hands, you can never be broke.”

    • Galatians 3:14
    • Matthew 4:4
    • Philippians 2:5
    • John 6:5-13
    • John 8:12
    • Matthew 5:14-16
  6. What prosperity means, and why you must receive the Word

From the Hebrew, prosperity means to succeed, thrive, flourish, finish well and be promoted; from the Greek, a prosperous and easy journey. He challenges those who will not invest in teaching or receive the fivefold ministry gifts, because the anointed Word only works in an open heart. Speak abundance over your home, and remember that people may take your coat but not your favour.

Illustration: Joseph's brothers stripped off his coat of many colours, but it was without the coat that he went to Potiphar's house, to prison and before Pharaoh, and was promoted. He then reads a word he wrote down that morning: 'You are painted with the blessing of God', marinated with favour, dipped in abundance and served with high levels of grace to the world.

“They may have taken his cloak out but they could not take the favor out.”

    • Psalm 118:24-25
    • Ephesians 4:11
    • Philippians 4:19
    • Romans 8:37
    • Romans 8:11
  7. A faithful man shall abound with blessings

To abound means to have enough with surplus, to exceed a fixed measure and to have more than you need, which lifts you above your own need so you can reach out to others. In Genesis 1 God told the waters to bring forth abundantly and blessed His creatures to be fruitful and multiply. When God prospers you, do not forget His kingdom: churches to build, preachers to raise up and the gospel to spread.

Illustration: Two types of people: one runs after money, and the other walks the other way while money chases them.

“Abundance lifts a person above the level of his need enabling him to reach out to others.”

    • Proverbs 28:20
    • John 10:10
    • Genesis 1:20-22
    • Proverbs 1:32

Putting it into practice

  • Fill your heart with the Word until your confession comes out of faith, not just your head.
  • Put abundance, multiplication and prosperity on your mind and think bigger thoughts.
  • Stop speaking lack or playing down God's blessings; say 'be blessed' rather than 'take care'.
  • Invest in teaching and receive the Word from the people God sends to you.
  • When God prospers you, remember His kingdom and His work.

Closing

He prophesies over the church: debt cancellation, cars, business contracts, millions placed in their hands, fruitful wombs and minds set free. He warns that prosperity can destroy a fool, urges them to stay kingdom-minded, and ends seeing them soar as carriers of the anointing of God's Spirit.

Declarations he led

  • Fill yourself with the Word of God.
  • Get hungry for the Word of God.
  • I'm not ordinary.
  • I have prosperity in my mind.
  • I have abundance in my mind.
  • I'm loaded.
  • I'm prosperous.
  • I'm dripping with success.

In his words

  • “If you're walking in lack and poverty, it's not a God problem. It's a Word problem.”
  • “Every child of God who's born and comes into this universe comes fully financed by God.”
  • “It's not a man or a woman that wins that is a winner, it is a man and woman that thinks he can win that will be a winner.”
  • “They may have taken his cloak out but they could not take the favor out.”
  • “You are painted by the blesser to be blessed which results in you being a blessing.”
