Sermon outline
Believers are a people of prophecy, not beggars, so they can speak God's word over their lives, families, finances and church and expect to grow.
Main text
- Mark 11:23-24
Opening
He calls up a young man to testify that God healed him of cancer of the jaw and opened a door for a new job, calling the night a celebration of God's miracles. He thanks the team who organised the evening's event, has the church stand and pray in tongues, and moves into worship. He later explains that he had planned to show a DVD and preach, but the spirit of prophecy came on him.
Prophesying growth over the churches, the pastors and the partners
He prophesies that people will come from the east, west, north and south, from professionals and officials to the poor and hurting, and find a home of refuge in the church. He prays by name for the branch churches and their pastors, for his own family and for the wider ministry, and covers every partner and their homes, finances and unsaved loved ones with the blood of Jesus. He cancels premature death and declares long life and safety for young people as they travel.
“We are growing numerically we are growing financially in the name of Jesus.”
- Psalm 91:16
- Psalm 23:5-6
No fear and no lack
Because God has not given a spirit of fear, he cancels fear of death, sickness and lack over the people. He declares that there will be no lack in any church, home, wallet, purse or bank account, and prophesies debt cancellation: bonds, car payments and credit cards paid off. Promotion comes from the Lord, who delights in the prosperity of His servants.
“You are not the people of sorrow but you're the people of abundance.”
- 2 Timothy 1:7
- Psalm 75:6-7
- Psalm 35:27
- Proverbs 10:22
- Malachi 3:10
Gladness, laughter and the boldness of a lion
He cancels sadness, bad habits and the lies of the devil, and declares that the challenges that once brought people down will now make them laugh. The joy, strength and wisdom of the Lord are their portion, and because the greater one lives in them they need not fear devils, evil spirits or sickness. The fear of the Lord removes every other fear and makes the righteous bold as a lion.
“The challenges that used to bring you down before, you will now begin to laugh at it.”
- John 8:44
- Nehemiah 8:10
- 1 John 4:4
- Proverbs 9:10
- Proverbs 28:1
We are people of prophecy, not beggars
Seated with Christ in heavenly places, believers do not beg; His strength, wisdom and ability are theirs. Battles are first won in the spirit and then seen in the natural, as Elisha's servant saw the horses and chariots of fire around them. God chooses those others wrote off, and He tells them to give a victory shout at an empty room, a low bank account or a bad medical report.
Illustration: Elisha praying for his servant's eyes to be opened, and the servant seeing the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire.

Your past is cancelled and the Spirit lives in you
Whatever family history someone comes from, idol worship, addiction or neglect, it was cancelled the day they said yes to Jesus. He contrasts dancing unashamedly under a trance in idolatry with Christians who are too prim to rejoice when the Spirit of God is on them. The Spirit that raised Christ lives in believers as living epistles, angels guard them wherever they go, and their employers are blessed because of them.
Illustration: When they were in idolatry, the trance came on them, their tongues were pierced and they danced without shame; so why not dance when the Spirit of God is on you?
“Why can't you dance around when the Spirit of God is on you?”

- John 3:16
- Matthew 11:28
- 2 Corinthians 3:2-3
- Romans 8:11
- Hebrews 1:14
Speak to your mountain: multiplication and sevenfold restoration
As Jesus blessed the bread and fish, everything their hands touch will multiply, and whatever death is in their financial or grocery 'pot' is cancelled, as Elisha healed the pot. Instead of rehearsing a bad report, they must speak to the mountain in the name of Jesus. The thief must restore sevenfold what he stole, and the God who answers by fire is setting cold altars alight again.
Illustration: The sons of the prophets crying 'there is death in the pot' until the man of God healed it.
“You look at your report and say, hey, in the name of Jesus, I prophesy down with you.”

God is a giver, so think big
God does not want people's money; He wants to prosper them, and the way He does it is through giving. God sowed His one Son and reaped many sons, so His children should share His giving nature. An open hand is an expression of an open heart, and God rewards in the open what is given in secret. He urges people to change their mindset and move up from thousands to tens of thousands and beyond, because the gospel needs money for books, television and churches.
Illustration: He once coasted his car down the road in neutral, praying it would get there; now he tells the attendant to fill it up. A believer may start with a car so broken you can see the white line through the floor, but that is the start, not the finish.
“An open hand is an expression of an open heart.”

- Luke 6:38
- John 2:1-11
- Psalm 91:1
- Matthew 6:4
- 3 John 2
Putting it into practice
- Speak to your problems in the name of Jesus instead of rehearsing the bad report.
- Refuse fear, sadness and the devil's lies, and let the joy of the Lord be your strength.
- Give a victory shout over the areas of lack and sickness in your life.
- Be a cheerful, generous giver and change your mindset from small to big.
- Do not despise small beginnings; expect to grow.
Closing
He receives the offering and prays over every family for a great November and an even greater December, with doubled finances and income from known and unknown sources. He speaks of the special grace on the church for healing and prosperity, saying a congregation operates under the grace of its pastor, and of the television and radio programmes that make the whole world their congregation. He encourages those who are starting small that Jesus also began as a baby, blesses the people and invites them to come expectant on Sunday.
