God Helps His Children

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee”
2Chronicles 20:9, 12

The Israelites had much practice in crying out for help to the God of the Covenant. When things went well, they strayed from God and worshipped pagan idols. But as soon as they found themselves in trouble, they knew where to run. They turned to God for help time and again, and He loved them so much that He delivered them from their predicament each time.

Therefore, when Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, heard that a large army was approaching to attack the people, he realized that only God would be able to help them. God did not disappoint him. He caused the enemy armies to fight each other, so that not a single man was left alive when Jehoshaphat and his soldiers reached the battlefield.

God is still ready to help His children when they need Him. But make sure that you do not follow in the footsteps of the Israelites who only acknowledged Him when they needed His help. Worship the Lord every day, then you can be assured of His help whenever you need it. This is a great secret. Make it work for you!
