What Drives Your Life! (Part 2)

Dr RJ Sing

“A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God shaped life is a flourishing tree”
Proverbs 11:28 (MSG)

Let us now look at Part Two of what drives your life, 1 John 4:18 (msg) “There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life-Fear for death, fear of judgment-is one not yet fully formed in love” Materialism: Their love to acquire becomes the whole goal of their lives. They think that having more will make them happy. They want to be more important, more secure, etc. Possessions produce temporary happiness. Real security can only be found in Christ Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 4:4 (LB) “Then I observed that the basic motive for success is the driving force of envy and jealousy! But this, too, is foolishness, chasing the wind.” Need for Approval: They allow expectations of people to control their lives. These are people who allow expectations of others to control them. Many people are still trying to obtain approval from others. Others are driven by peer pressure. They are always worried about what others think.

Those who follow the crowd, get lost in it. One key to failure, is to try to please everyone. Being controlled by the opinions of others is a guaranteed way to miss God's Purposes for your life. There are other forces that drive your life, but they all lead to the same dead end.
