Understanding Your Purpose – Part 3

Dr RJ Sing

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
Romans 12:2 – NLT

People are also driven by fear. They are afraid to venture out so they choose to play it safe, avoid risks and maintain the status quo. Their fears may be as a result of, traumatic experiences, unrealistic expectations and growing up in a high control home.

Fear is a self-imposed prison in which, they miss out on great opportunities in life. Fight fear with the weapons of love and faith. 1 John 4:18 (MES) “There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life-Fear for death, fear of judgment-is one not yet fully formed in love.”

Materialism is another factor. Their love to acquire becomes the whole goal of their lives. They think that having more will make them happy and want to be more important and more secure. Just remind yourself that, possessions produces temporary happiness. Ecclesiastes 4:4 TLB “Then I observed that the basic motive for success is the driving force of envy and jealousy! But this, too, is foolishness, chasing the wind.” Your real security can only be found in Christ Jesus.
