Agreement to Walk Together – Part 2
Dr RJ Sing
“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”
People sign agreements without being in agreement, such as, when a party does not walk in agreement, you call that disagreement. Meaning, they walk in disagreement. Being double minded after signing, being unfaithful within a formal agreement (like marriage), choosing to ignore stuff and being disloyal to the correct standards of the agreement (like unholy alliances when in relationship with God).
These are dangerous people and need to be avoided at any cost. Disagreement can be more an attitude. People’s actions show their non-verbal disagreement, for example, when they don’t carry the vision of the church.
The agreement that God made with man can be equated with a marriage agreement. For example: A marriage agreement is legal as well as a spiritual union agreement. It’s an agreement not to be taken lightly. People sign a legal marriage agreement without being in agreement with the issues of marriage. Since no pre-marital counselling was done (maybe ineffective), a lot of unresolved issues have not been dealt with, which they stand in dis-agreement with. (Disagreement fosters division).
