Dancing in the Spirit
Dr RJ Sing
“Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by drums and lyre.”
Dancing before the Lord is also a most Holy practice. The Word of God also instructs us to praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Psalms 150:4, “Praise him with the drums and dancing. Praise him with stringed instruments and horns.” And again we have an example of David dancing before the Lord with all his might. (See 2 Samuel 6:14)
Michal his wife despised him and made fun of David because he danced before the Lord. Let us examine David’s response to the situation. He made no apology but answered that he did so before the Lord. God punished Michal for her attitude towards David. 2 Samuel 6:23, “So Michal was childless throughout her life.” Dancing before the Lord is most Holy.
Psalm 81:1-3 NIV “Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! 2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre. 3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival” Here again we see that the Bible instructs us to sing aloud and to make a joyful noise unto Him. As you gather for worship and praise, begin to participate, as this is what God expects of you. As you do this, you become more and more anointed.
