The Heart of Worship
Dr RJ Sing
“Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.”
Delayed obedience is really disobedience. Partial obedience is really disobedience. Instant obedience unlocks understanding. You will never understand some of God’s commands until you obey them. Any act of obedience is also an act of worship. John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments”
When you live in the light of eternity, your focus changes from ‘How much pleasure am I getting out of my life’ to ‘How much pleasure is God getting out of my life?’ The heart of Worship is surrender. Our biggest barrier is pride because the oldest temptation is the desire to have complete control over our lives. It is when we try to play God that we end up most like satan. There are 3 barriers that block our total surrender, Fear, Pride, and Confusion.
What does it mean to surrender? Surrendering is not passive resignation. Surrendering is not repressing your personality. Surrendering is best demonstrated by Obedience. Surrender to God is characterized by relying on God to work things out. Surrendered hearts show up best in relationships.
