Your Prosperity Is on the Other Side of Your Obedience

Dr RJ Sing, 27 September 2020, 23 min, Part 4 of Blessed Beyond Measure

This is the whole service. The video opens where he begins, at 39:51.

Originally preached as “Blessed Beyond Measure, Part 4: Obedience and Prosperity”

Sermon outline

Obedience opens the door to kingdom prosperity: like Isaac, who obeyed God, stayed in the land and sowed in a famine, you can trust God, keep sowing whatever the conditions and receive a hundredfold return in this life.

Main text

  • Genesis 26:2-6
  • Genesis 26:12

Opening

He greets church family and viewers around the world as Dr Sing from FCI Rhema Durban, quotes Romans 10:17 and introduces this part of Blessed Beyond Measure, subtitled Obedience and Prosperity. He prays that viewers be filled with the knowledge of God's will, strengthened with all might and made fit to share the inheritance, and acknowledges Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

  1. Isaac obeyed in the famine

God told Isaac not to go down to Egypt but to stay in the land, which was his by the Abrahamic covenant, and promised to do for him what He did for Abraham. Isaac obeyed and stayed in Gerar, and he prospered right where he was, because God needed him there, just as He needs us on earth to establish and expand the garden and occupy till He comes. Don't go to the world to have your needs met; go to the Word of God.

“Don't go to the world to have your needs met. Go to the Word of God.”

    • Genesis 26:2-6
    • Luke 19:13
    • Proverbs 10:22
  2. Obedience opens the door to kingdom prosperity

If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land, or as the Message puts it, feast like kings. Those who obey and serve God spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasure, which in the Hebrew speaks of delight and sweetness. If you fully obey the Lord, He will set you on high and all these blessings will come on you.

“Your prosperity is on the other side of your obedience.”

    • Isaiah 1:19
    • Job 36:11
    • Deuteronomy 28:1-2
  3. Blessings that overtake you

He reads a word in which the Lord says He has plans beyond your wildest imagination and heaven is overloaded with what He has prepared for you, if you come with a grateful heart and become a giver, not a taker. The Lord needs an army of believers in these end times and does not need them broke or sick: He paid for it, so come and dine at the table prepared in the presence of your enemies. The blessings will overtake you, engulf you, pile on you and heap over you.

“I don't need you to be broke. I don't need you to be sick. I need you to be healed and well.”

    • Deuteronomy 28:2
    • Psalm 23:4-5
    • John 21:12
  4. It is always a good time to sow

Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant, and those who watch every cloud never harvest. Give and it shall be given to you; he who sows bountifully reaps bountifully. Isaac sowed in the land in the very year of the famine and reaped a hundredfold, a hundred times what was estimated, because the Lord blessed him.

“It is always a good time to sow in the kingdom of God.”

    • Ecclesiastes 11:4
    • Luke 6:38
    • 2 Corinthians 9:6
    • Genesis 26:12
  5. We harvest in spite of the conditions

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord: they are like trees planted by the riverbank with roots deep in the water, not bothered by the heat or the long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit. That is true of Christians, who harvest even in the toughest times.

“We harvest continual prosperity even during the toughest times.”

    • Jeremiah 17:7-8
  6. A hundredfold now, in this time

Jesus promised a hundredfold return now in this time, not only in heaven, with eternal life as the bonus. Whatever you have sown will come back multiplied: good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. From his own years of serving the Lord he says sowing and reaping is a perpetual harvest, but obedience is the first step.

“If you're a bona fide sower, you will never lack anything in your life.”

    • Mark 10:29-30
    • Luke 18:30
    • Luke 6:38

Putting it into practice

  • Go to the Word of God, not the world, to have your needs met.
  • Obey God and put His Word into practice.
  • Keep sowing; don't wait for perfect conditions.
  • Become a giver, not a taker, with a grateful heart.
  • Walk in the mindset that you are blessed beyond measure.

Closing

He declares that viewers will experience God's faithfulness, will not worry or doubt, and will give birth to every promise God has put in their hearts. He leads a prayer of salvation, urges new believers to find a Bible-based church, and prays for those facing crises in their finances, health, marriages or families, commanding every financial mountain to be removed and every need to be met. He gives the priestly blessing and invites viewers back next week.

Declarations he led

  • Dear God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I now ask Jesus to come into my heart to be the Lord of my life, and I now receive eternal life in my spirit.

In his words

  • “Obedience opens the door to the kingdom prosperity.”
  • “So your prosperity is on the other side of your obedience.”
  • “It is always a good time to sow in the kingdom of God.”
  • “Sowing and reaping is a perpetual harvest.”
  • “Obedience is the first step that you must take in order to experience the blessings of God.”
