Dr RJ Sing, 1 hr 21 min
Originally preached as “Lift Him Up: Celebrate Jesus this Christmas!”
Sermon outline
Jesus is the greatest gift God has given, and through His blood we are marked for protection, a new day, deliverance and dominion, every day and not only at Christmas.
Main text
- Luke 2:10-11
- Revelation 12:11
Opening
After worship, carols, a word from Pastor Zubeda at the offering and a solo by guest singer Verona, he greets the church, reminding them that God gave His Son to reconcile the world to Himself. He prays over the communion emblems, welcomes old friends, notes that this is their 21st Christmas service and reads Luke 2:10-11, stressing that Jesus came to save, not to condemn.
The greatest gift of all
The greatest gift the Father has given the church is Jesus Christ, our redemption and our victory, who promised never to leave us. In Him we can enjoy heaven on earth, because the curses have been removed and we have been translated into the blessings of God. He is the true meaning of Christmas.
“We taste a little bit of the Garden of Eden here on earth.”
- Luke 2:10-11
- John 3:16
- Hebrews 13:5
- Matthew 28:20
- Proverbs 10:22
Jesus, the seed planted by the Holy Spirit
Reading the account of Mary and Joseph, he thanks God for angels, including the ones sent to bless, and says God is only looking for a receiver. Jesus was a seed planted by the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, because humanity had to be redeemed through humanity, and the only legal entry was through a woman, with a heavenly Father.
Illustration: He sees money angels running to and fro across the earth with briefcases, looking for someone who wants to receive.
“He's looking for a receiver.”
- Matthew 1:18-25
By the blood of the Lamb you are marked
They overcame the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. As the Israelites marked their doorposts at the first Passover so the angel of death passed over, God has marked you for victory, promotion, purpose and destiny.
Illustration: The blood was put on the lintel and doorposts, never on the threshold, because it was never meant to be trampled on. He also tells of lying in bed saying confessions over himself that he will never be poor or lack.
“You're marked for victory. You're marked for blessings.”
- Revelation 12:11
- Exodus 12:7-13
- Jeremiah 29:11
1. The blood provides protection
Do not be afraid to plead the blood over your car, house, children and marriage. God dealt with us redemptively, not vindictively, buying humanity back and giving us a new identity, a new name and a new bloodline. We are a royal priesthood and a holy nation, pilgrims in this world, so we must stop living by the labels the world gave us.
Illustration: In Florida with the late Pastor Barry, his friend told him to come and get some sun, and he replied that he was born tanned.
“Our great God was not dealing with us vindictively. He was dealing with us redemptively.”
- 1 Peter 2:9
- 1 Peter 2:11
- John 17:16
2. The blood provides the promise of a new day
The Passover was a beginning point: just when Israel thought it was over, God began. They did not leave Egypt empty-handed, and people will give to you without knowing why. As 2022 approaches, he urges the church to be born again and filled with the Spirit, and to come to the crossover service for a word for the new year.
Illustration: Over some 41 or 42 years of serving the Lord he moved from a religious church, to a conforming church, to a charismatic born-again church.
“Just when they thought it was over, God began.”
- Exodus 12:35-36
3. The blood provides a witness
The blood on the door became a testimony and marked a place of safety. Anyone who wanted to come into that circle of protection had to come through the door, and to enter it today you must accept Christ Jesus.
Illustration: He says some Egyptians sought shelter in the houses of the Israelites and their lives were saved.
“If you want to become part of that circle of protection, you've got to accept Christ Jesus.”
4. The blood provides deliverance
We no longer cover sin with the blood of animals, because the spotless Lamb has shed His blood and our sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. There is deliverance for you, your family and your children.
“Get into that circle, that circle of protection.”
- Psalm 103:12
5. Lay claim to the body of evidence
Pleading the blood of Jesus is a heaven-given resource that licenses us to take dominion over the works of darkness, because we have been translated into light and made new creatures. The blood neutralises the power of sin, and it overcomes demonic, physical and personal attack, including condemnation, so we can come boldly to the throne of grace.
“The blood neutralizes the power of sin.”
- Colossians 1:13
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Hebrews 4:16
- Romans 8:1
Putting it into practice
- Receive Jesus as the greatest gift and live as a child of God every day, not just on Christmas Day.
- Plead the blood over your home, car, marriage and children.
- Drop the labels the world gave you and take up your identity as royalty in Christ.
- Stay hungry and desire more: become a receiver.
- Come boldly to God, free of condemnation.
Closing
He leads communion, teaching that it is a proclamation, a remembrance and a sign of separation from the world, and has the church take the bread and the cup as the blood that seals the covenant. After Pastor Adrian leads a song on the power of the blood, couples and families face each other to declare that 2022 will be their best year, and the service ends in a prayer of thanks for a God who forgives, cares and blesses.
Declarations he led
- Jesus is Lord, King of kings, Lord of lords.
- 2022, I declare, will be the best year I've ever had. I will be promoted numerous times.
- My finances will be blessed. My spouse will be blessed. My children will be blessed.
- My life will never be the same.
In his words
- “He came to save us.”
- “I was a nobody going no way until I met the Lord.”
- “Our great God was not dealing with us vindictively. He was dealing with us redemptively.”
- “The blood neutralizes the power of sin.”
- “That's all God's looking for is a receiver.”
