He Has Called You (Part 1)
Dr RJ Sing
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].”
The God of all Grace has called you and He wants to do the following in us. Firstly, He wants you ‘Perfect’ then secondly He wants you, ‘Established’. Then thirdly, He wants you ‘strengthened’ and fourthly He wants you ‘settled’.
We find that God wants you ‘Perfect’. In the book of Hebrews, we read: “*Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory forever and ever. Amen.” (See Hebrews 13:20-21. Keep in mind that when scripture makes reference to ‘Perfection’ it is always a joining up to eternal things. Perfection is a working in us of the will of God. Now the dictionary defines the word perfect as follows: Having all Essential elements, unblemished, faultless, a perfect gemstone, correct or precise, perfect timing, excellent in all respects, having all parts present, etc.* Now you know that it is progressive. It does not happen overnight but over a period of time. As we live our daily lives we are cleaned by the blood of Jesus. Then as we yield and yield, we find ourselves in possession of another mind, even the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16), and this causes us to understand the perfection of His will. You are perfected as you launch out with God by faith.
